--South Carolina Man First to be Charged Under Cyber Stalking Law

A Columbia, SC, man has been arrested on charges of cyber stalking.
Robert James Murphy, the first person in the country to be prosecuted
under a 1997 law equating obscene email messages with obscene phone
calls, pleaded not guilty in US District Court. Murphy was charged
with
26 counts of using his computer to "annoy, abuse, threaten and harass"
a Seattle woman; he could face up to two years in prison for each
count.
