Why r we so left out? :(

Thing is... in Canada, there are no freestyle singers, except for Joee, that ACTUALLY try to keep freestyle alive. NO good CDs and No real fans... I dunno how you feel about it, but I'm kind of concerned if only I noticed that... my friends, for example, have no idea what freestyle is! They mix it with sing-as-you-go rapping. I really wish there were more people supporting our music. Props to Tony Monaco!

Freestyle is alive in Canada!

As far as Toronto goes there are two clubs that specialize in freestyle music. Plasitque on Friday nights and Palazzo on Saturday nights.
Please check them out and you will not be dissapointed in the amount of Freestyle that is played.

There is no doubt that the old school american freestyle is amazing stuff!
You would be surprised though at the amount new freestyle that is played here from Canada and Europe.
What ever the origin, freestyle is alive and well in Canada.

Canadian Freestyle

I recall Elissa being from Canada like someone said in another post up there. I personally think Canadian freestyle is kind of wack and cheesy compared to other freestyle-- maybe that's why it doesn't get as much recognition (but I'm not speaking for everyone). I don't think I've found or heard any GOOD albums coming from there--although there have been a few good artists that I like such as Elissa and Joee.

You forgot the next Stevie B, VLA is from Toranto. I think Canada is doing a great job of keeping Freestyle alive. Its more than what the States are producing (in my opinion).
How can anyone think Canadian Freestyle is cheesy ? I think some of the best artists are from Canida. Collage,Alexia & Chris, Elissa....the list can go on forever so Ill stop now.

Canadian Freestyle

I forgot about Tamara--she has the NEver Gonna Let You Go song which is pretty tight.

Hey Diamondgirl ur from Mass? Where in? I'm from Springfield, and there's Freestyle there. There's a place called the Music Center on Main Street downtown and they sell freestyle. Not just the mainstream things you find in Media Play and all them, they carry Artistik CD's, and some others...I even saw M:G there. If you're close enough you can tune into 90.7 WTCC on thursdays from 6-8, and fridays 8-12 for Jose"CPR"Ortiz's CLubhouse dance music which is a FReestyle radio show. There's also a bunch of Freestyle artists there every year that perform at the Puerto Rican festival each summer. It's heard more there because there's a lot of Ricans in Springfield.
Back to the Canadian scene---Come to think of it, I hhave talked to people from Canada that like Freestyle--mostly Asians. Well, i got a class now so I'm out.

Thanks for the info... But it's hard to get to Springfield because I am from Worcester. I usually go to City Records out here and there is some there but either I have most of it or it's not something that I want, he doesn't update the cds much. You ever come down here? I actually went out there to go and see the Artistik Crew, they were the bomb. Freeze also lives in Springfield, did you know that?? Did you go to the show?? Get back to me!!!

Yeah, I recall Freeze being from the area... I didn't get a chance to see him or anyone else (rochester crew included) perform either the past year or in '99 because I had school. IT'd be nice to go, and maybe find some CD's that are hard to find as well.
Now that I think of it...not ALL canadian freestyle is bad--in fact I remember the time back when I was in 6th grade when Collage was all over the radio waves, with I'll Be Loving You. Well, i'm out cuz i have work in the morning at shady media Play...talk to u later

Hey Everyone,
Man, I love this board... anyways, not to worry, aside from Myself working on my next freestyle release and my album which is due out in a month... I just finished up some studio work producing for well known Canadian Talent. This stuff should be released real soon.. we are looking at too much freestyle to handle... I promise to keep you posted!! But for now, they remain secrets until the product is ready for release... sorry napster!
