NAW I DON'T SHARE FILES..I'M AFRAID SOMEONE MIGHT HACK INTO MY COMPUTER...PLUS IF I NEED MUSIC I CAN ALWAYS PURCHASE IT TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE FREESTYLE AND DANCE COMMUNITY...FREDDIE😛
 
i use bear share but i have a cable modem and i am on and off in no time. i only share certain files. most are from cd's i buy. i don't keep the program on when i am not looking for music.
 
Freestyler4life, everything on the internet has viruses whether you know it or not. Perfect example: Certain sites will drop a tracker on you and you know what, you won't even know it unless you have a real good Virus scanner the block VB script and other scripts they use. So to single out Kazaa as having "TOO much Viruses" is incorrect.

Do you know how many sites I come across that is infected with W32_Klez on a daily bases?

Besides, if you do use a music sharing program and you do not have a virus scanner chacking every file you download, then the individual him/herself is not helping out the internet community by doing his part in snuffing out Viruses.

Kazaa lite doesn't 🙂 But Kazaalite is illegal...it's kazaa but a cracked version 🙂

You need to go to www.lavasoft and download ad-aware to remove the spy files they put on your PC If you do get ad-aware and you have regular kazaa and remove the spyware...kazaa will no longer able to run/work

Also go to www.zonelabs and get a free firewall for added protection.

ahh but you know what? You need not be on a webpage or Kazaa, all is needed is that you have Broadband or DSL. Any smart Cracker (Not hacker.) will use a Port Sniffer and enter in, leave behind a key board emulation bat file, and record every key stroke made. So in essence......a program is not needed.

I guess. I don't know too much about computers but to defend myself online I try my best. Better having some clothes than being totally naked you know? 😛

Everything we do on the web is being seen by secretive prying eyes anyways 🙂

Enigma, I am glad you see it like I do. You would be surprised the amount of trash you pick up along the way. Without the protection, of a Firewall and a Virus scanner, the internet would not be a safe place to hang out. Oh and check your Personal IM's I sent you a gram.
 
but if i get a firewall, doesn't it mean i can't share files with other people... cos sometimes i came to the point where i was sending someone a song and at the last second it would say file couldn't be sent because the receiver is behind a firewall...

can someone explain it to me?

I know it gets in the way of file sharing...I really don't know too much on how you can avoid it. The only thing i would say is too disengage it :crap
