Grammy-winning pop singer Whitney Houston (news) has entered a drug rehabilitation facility, her publicist said.

Houston "thanks everyone for their support and prayers," publicist Nancy Seltzer said in a statement Monday. She declined to offer any further details.


Houston, 40, admitted in a December 2002 television that she had abused drugs in the past, but told interviewer Diane Sawyer on ABC's "Primetime" that she had gotten beyond that time through prayer.


Houston's husband, R&B singer Bobby Brown (news), was sentenced to 60 days in jail in late February for violating probation. One of the violations included a December misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly striking Houston, leaving her with a bruised cheek and a cut inside her lip.


In January 2000, Houston left behind a bag at Keahole Kona International Airport in Hawaii that allegedly held less than half an ounce of marijuana and three partially smoked marijuana cigarettes.


In 2001, a petty misdemeanor drug charge relating to the incident was dismissed against Houston after a drug counselor filed an assessment with prosecutors stating that Houston did not require treatment for substance abuse.


Brown and Houston have been married since 1992 and have a 10-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
 
i blame it on her getting invovled with that scum hubby bobby brown. since being w/him shes gone down big time.:dgrin
 
Oh mah God, I don't know if any of you remember the Diane Sawyer interview a few years back....well, this is sad but, myself and a few friends of mine made it a special event.....we cooked dinner, drank Mojito's, and watched the 1 hour interview as if it was a new episode of "Queer Eye.."

The interview had us rollin'!
 
I agree with Aim that marrying Bobby Brown was the start of her downfall.. However, unless he is forcing the drugs down her throat, she has the power to resist. So, it's her fault too. I do think it's very sad what's happened to her..she is such a talented person.

Definitely Bobby's fault.....hey that song they did called "Something In Common" fits them well! It's so sad though! 🙁
 
I love Whitney no matter what, but it is amazing how even with all that money and success she would let herself go downhill, I curse the day she met Bobby, he is the reason for this #$%^. But she is a grown women and mother, she should know better, but i still love her, to me she is the best in her line of music!!!
 
Nobody, can make you do drugs.Whitney chose to be with Bobby and do drugs.Anyone in AA or Drug Rehab Program knows that you have to take responibiility for you actions. She always has had the choice to say yes or no. She choice to be in the relationship she's in.We cant blame nobody but WHITNEY!! She needs to sing the Greatest Love of All to herself.

Ur right about that Tank. She need to stay clean and get away from Bobby if she want to see real progress with her recovery. He's jealous of her and thats why he would rather see her down than up. What a hater. damn shame i tell ya.

He's here inabler. But, there was a guy,who worked for her father. Who says she was doing coke with a girl called Robin her assistant. Who was rumored to be Whitneys Lesbain Lover. But Bobby came in said your strickly dickly lol.But, we cant blame him for her drug habit. Shit, he aint stupid. If I was a drug addict I would marry Whitney too. I wouldn't have to pay for anything.lol
 
It's sad. At one time she was really my favorite artist. Her voice was like no one else. Of course, everyone noticed how she started going down. Sad. Especially when she had her daughter. That to me should've made her change. But I guess since she was in denial for so long. And yes we all know her downfall was marrying Bobby Brown, but that was her choice! She loves him. Maybe one day, she won't be in denial about him and leave him.
