Which songs (old school) have the best edits?? Here are my favorites:

(We know most of High Power, Cutting and Mic Mac's stuff..besides them)

Robbie - Girl I need you (it has one part in which the edits go for over a minute and a half!!)

LA Girls - No More, No More

Jasmin - On the loose

Anthony, regardin the Robbie song, i also love how after the edits, he sings a verse from his other song "i never knew" .. phat!!!!!!! great songgg

"Endless Nights"...Cynthia

I actually like the 4 minute edited version of "Endless Nights" better than the 8 min. original version. i like the way it starts out right into the song. the edit was more dramatic and to the point than the original to me.

but normally for everything else i like the long versions.

Well I'm not sure which songs have the best edits... BUT, I can tell you from experience that Carlos "After Dark" Berrios & Omar Santana (although, omar's are slightly off in timing) do the best sounding, complex, real deal blade to tape edits of any of the editors out there! They truly made it an art form......

O.S. I agree, they're edits wre top notch....uuummm, rememeber I'm talkin edits...not an edited (short version) song...Yeah EKIN, I know what you're talking about....and I think all of Robbie's songs are the SH@# too!!!!!!!! 😛

Hmm.......Im Gonna Probably Get Lip For This...
I Would Say...1 Guy Who Did The Sickest Edits Is " Tony Garcia "
I Know The Topic Is " Which Songs " But Mostly All Of His Songs Have Sick Editing...O.S. Thier Edits Night Go Off For That Millasecond But U Know How Hard It Was Back In The Days...No Technology Like Today...Just Simply Takin Siccors And Cuttin And Pasting The Reel To Reel Tape Together.
Mickey Garcia's Label * MicMac * Had Some Sick Editing Too...Perfect Example..." Materialistic Girl " By: & More
The Break In That Song...Where It Edits And Then A Hard Bass Comes in And Keeps Repeating?
For Those Who Have Systems Like Mine Know What Im Talkin About.
Overall...Mostly Underground Labels Did The Best Pieces Of Work From Editing To Lyrics And All...My View I Guess :I

Very true! The underground stuff had the best everything..just as I mentioned with Robbie...also Mike Arce...Kimberly.....Karlo...etc..😛

Woops!

I gotcha now!

In that case, then I would have to say "The Latin Rascals" had the best! PROS! But Tony Garcia was the man too! Elear, u gets no slack from me on that one! I agree.

the real deal!!!

Chep nunez!! RIP this is the man who started all the editing comotion.. he was the best! latin Rascals, tony garcia, omar santana, blade runners etc.. all came in the after chep. hey! but then again, what do i know?...i'm just a junior freestyler...lol

if you're a REAL FREESTYLER you'll know this..lol

btw..chep died about 15 years ago in an apartment complex fire in NYC.

Not to try to insult u the way u did me. But Chep (although talented in his own right) could not hold TRL's jock if it had a handle on it!!! I'm a 2nd generation DJ & my Freestyle knowledge goes back well over 20yrs. As far as i'm concerned not only are TLR the 1st & the greatest but Chep doesn't even make top 5.

So that's the way it is, cause i tell it like it is!

PEACE!!!!!

I have to agree...The Latin Rascals were there 1st....doing amazing things on the ORIGINAL KTU when they were 92KTU in the eraly to mid 80's....However, NUNEZ is underated in that he never gets acknowledeg enough for his contributions....😛

I'm sorry you found it as an insult..lol...it's all a matter of opinion and taste anyway...in my opinion, Chep was the best thats all.

I dont think freestyle went back to the 70s...,what kind of freestyle knowledge do you have from the seventies. i mean the term FREESTYLE didnt come up until the late eighties, i may be mistaken though. some people have their own definition of what freestyle music is. maybe you have yours....my freestyle era starts in the early to middle eighties.

peace!!

Gee post an opinion and get berated. I don't know check my math if i'm wrong 2001-20=1981, gee it's close but sure as hell aint the 70's. If you want 2 take it further i said i was a DJ for over 20yrs. Although Freestyle is my love, i play alot more music than that. Hence the name Cut Wizard Jay a Hip-Hop name if there ever was one. Now to school you further i'm not quoting exact years now but, Planet Rock, Body Mechanic, Soul Makossa, AEOIU & Let The Music Play. Were all released around 81. I'm sure we would all say those are "Freestyle caliber songs". So yes i do know what i'm talking about. Now that I've said what i ineeded to say, I'll restate my origional statement. The Latin Rascals started it, mastered it, and nobody comes close.

Now I don't know what your hard-on for Chep is (i'll say it again, he was talented). Maybe he was a friend of yours or something. But all i did was give an opinion. You took it there, I didn't, but it's all good & i have nothin but luv 4 ya. But lets have alittle respect 4 each other in these forums, cause we are all brought here by one thing. A love for Freestyle, and thats all i wish 2 share here.

PEACE!!!

edits

Youare right anthony. thanx for screwing my head back on straight. This song my not have the best edits, its the 2st song with what was called back then the "transformer edits". The song is "I Wanna Know (Pure Energy)" by Information Society. It just stands out for some reason

PEACE

Yeah, that does have those cool "transformer" edits. Everyone's opinion is different, but I have to say that edits make freestyle stand out from the rest of the crowd....It's what helps to make freestyle so unique...and SLAMMIN!!!!!!! 😛

Ahhhh.. Those Sweet Edits!

Maria Ventura - My Heart Holds The Key (Omar Santana)
Donna Williams - True Love Never Dies (Blade Runners)
Corina - Out Of Control (I love when the edits kicks in in the ending of a verse like in this song, not just in the break) (Carlos Berrios). Just a few of my favorites.

I love 90% of what Latin Rascals has done, but when you hear the edits in "Once Upon A Time" w. John Rocca, you can't help wondering What the hell they were thinking of... It has one of the most disgusting breaks I ever heard.
