This is an old debate that gets revisited a lot. Let's put some hard numbers to it. This is your opportunity to tell Freestyle-friendly producers and radio stations finally, what people want to hear.😉
LatinRazcal, progressive new school is more of the west coast/canadian type of freestyle. with faster beats .. for example, 'julissa - i must go on', 'jossette/rockell - in a dream' ....
I'm purely old school but I like the style in Julissa's "I must go on" .I never considered that freestyle though.
Ok so what "type" of music is that in Johnny Budz weekly mix part 1? That is the same music that is played on ENERGY and I LOVE IT! I can dance to that music ALL day & night.
AHHHHHHHHHHHH somebody wake my @ss up it's 6am and I'm workin UGH!!!!!!!! 😱 Im not making any sense so let me got outta here.
FreestyleKitty.....the music that is in the 'weekly mix 1 and 2' is Breakbeats and house. I put that music in there just to let people know i don't JUST mix freestyle. None of the music in there is really 'freestyle'
88% of Freestyle listeners like Old School Freestyle,
78% like regular New School, and only
44% enjoy Progressive New School.
Keep the votes coming in. I think demographics is a big influence on how people vote, eg. Canadians and Californians tend to like Progressive Freestyle.
I Voted For B&C...Regular New Skool And Old Skool.
The Reason I Always Stick With Old Skool And Will Always Is Because They Took Time And Put Effort Into Making 1 Record. It Would Take Them Weeks 2 Make 1 Record. 2day? U Have Labels Making A Whole Album In No More Than A Month. Come On Now. U See What Im Saying? New Skool Progressive Or Whatever The Hell You Wanna Call it. Is Srtaight Up Trash. You Wanna Go Against Me? Go Ahead. Feel Free. But You Know It And I Do. It Makes Freestyle Look Like a Joke.
People Use 2 Say Out Of Spite " All Freestyle Sounds The Same " Back In 95 And Around There "
Now? Its Gonna Be Taken Literally.😡
Born & Rasied on Old Skool so I alwayz gotta Luv it. But I have to say I'm getting a little bored with it. Or at least the basic trax, Judy, some TKA, Coro, Lamond, I gotta chill out with that stuff, I'm getting a little bored.
My brother and I are creating "THE NEW OLD SCHOOL"..... We are putting out records that have that same flavor that was once found in the old school songs. We are sticking to what we know best. The new school is cool only if it is done correctlly. The key here is good records are good records. So far we have great feedback. So for all those old school heads look out for the NEW OLD SCHOOL
well I wasn't too satisfied with the Freestyle Fresh Kids vol.1.
I hope the next volume will be better. The first one definetly didn't sound Old-school, the vocals maybe, but not the production. some songs had not good enough mixing I think, and not enough harmonies and background vocals, and the EDITS??? where were the edits?? I'm a edit junkie, I was waiting for the fat edits to kick in, but nah...
Here's the songs I like off that CD:
David Santiago - Love On The Run
Ray Lavon - I Surrender
Susan Santiago - You Showed Me
The Jason Tomi track was aight.
The Jazmine track was good.
I don't wanna sound like a hater cause I'm not, it was just I had heard such good things about this compilation, and when I bought it I was like hmmm. I didn't think it was all that. But you have probably evolved your productionskills and I'm curious to hear your next CD. you had some hardhitting beats on the first one.
Peace
