CF is dead.

Soon, all will eventually stop giving a shit.

What did it??

-Freestyle doesn't sell
-Everyone has "that" mp3
-Freestyles "movers and shakers" only crave the original material and don't really have an ear for the new
-Little fan base to begin with
-Anyone who's anyone dreads this site
-Nothing new in the industry
-Most artists have moved on
-Politics
-It was all just a resurgence that didn't last long. Everyone has taken their cake out of it and eaten it. What now??
-Too much divided hatred and varying opinions on shit that never helped the music grow

Other reasons....

-Most new school artists can't sing worth a dime. It's sad when you compare them to the old school artists. There's a huge difference. The only reason why they pick Freestyle as their music of choice in the first place is because of the fact of the small yet powerful history this genre has had (i.e. Suzanne AKA Lil' Suzy) of shytty vocalists that have inspired the notion that "if you can do it, i can do it too" mentality and the fact that they themselves just can't sing. Trust me, if you had excellent vocals, would you choose Freestyle as your genre to sing in?? I doubt it.
-Some people including artists have used and abused this genre for their own personal agenda. Not for the love.
-No new fans. Can't really blame them when no one hasn't really paved the way for the new generation but this was/is a very important factor. The old can only get old and with no offspring, there is no tomorrow.

Actually there are few good vocalist who remain loyal to freestyle and have great voices like in west coast Christina Marie..amazing..seen her live and now her, same with Miles Petty and Sharyn Maceren..they are getting booked to perform. So there are talented freestyle artists out there, who sing more than freestyle. For Lil'Suzy she is not shitty, she is a decent singer, seen her live..Lil'Suzy is one of few singers..keeping freestyle alive and is in top demand..i have nothing but love out there.Sure old school artists have some amazing vocals and there are few new school that do,but I always felt you do not have to have the most amazing vocals to sing any genre of music..if you captured that emotion..you did your job as an artist..

Hey everyone!! I still pop in now and then! I think freestyle is very much alive. Us die hard fans will always love our freestyle. I think one of the main problems is that the wrong audience is promoted and in the wrong ways.

Ask and I shall tell!
Just popped in. Thought I'd say Hi to those still on here.
Has been a VERY long time.

BTW, the genre is not dead... just not well supported, IMO.

My opinion leans towards freestyle being dead. Originator makes a point when he says that there isn't any new music (that compares to old school) and their are no new fans. Younger fans are usually fans of the old school; and sorry to say... it get's a bit borring after awhile. I believe that the artist also know and feel the same "boring" effect and that is possible one of the reasons they move on.

It sad to say, but i don't see Freestyle in much of an upward spiral. However, give the genre another 5 to 10 years and you'll see it make a come-back. Unfortunately come-backs don't last.

Hey everyone. Its good to see this place is still around.

I'm surprised Freestyle hasn't made more of a come back, being that things have gone more digital. As a DJ, one of the hardest things was finding a quality Freestyle record that didn't have pops or bad scratches. With Vinyl pretty expensive as digital started to make its way in, I can understand why newer artists didn't press, but newer stuff can certainly be sold through online vendors.

Freestyle is still strong here in the Lehigh Valley and I know down in Philly, at least a few roller rinks still have dedicated Freestyle nights. Its the best to skate to! Its not played on the radio per sey, but it is in the rinks!

I guess I'd want to understand what a lot of you guys are calling "old school." I'd considered Party Your Body to be an "old school" track, with the Planet Rock beat being the nu-skool. If that is the case, I'd say I'm more of a nu-skool guy.

Not that no one gives a s#*t about freestyle anymore. Just times have gotten busy and people don't always have the time for certain things anymore. Plus with all the damn social media out there, just to many distractions! Always am and always will be a fan of freestyle music. If I make it to live to be 80yrs old, I will be listening!!
