I saw this show on VH1 last night. Brings back good memories.
Back in The late 80's and early 90's, the big divas were Models, actually; Supermodels.
Who don't remember the Sexy 6;

Naomi Campbell
Tajuina Putiza
Christy Thurlington
Linda Evangelesta
Stephanie Syemore
I know Veronica Webb and Helena Christen where included.
They was just everywhere between 1986-1995.
The big fad for Rockstars and rappers was to date a Supermodel.
In 95, it kind of died down because these supermodels(a phrase coined by 70's wild model; Janice Dickerson), were getting too expensive for designers. The kate Moss who weighed less than a pillow and was starting the whole Heiron Chic which(i'm glad)was a bust.
I remember that VH1 used have all kind of fashion type shows. Fashion was the thing in The late 80's and mid 90's.
Even though Tyra banks and Hidei Klum is holding fort, nobody is into models anymore.
