I ASKED LAST WEEK WHAT YOU GUYS WANNA HEAR ON A NEW COMPILATION. OLD SCHOOL STYLE MUSIC OR NEW SCHOOL STYLE OF MUSIC. I GOT SOME GREAT ANSWERS BUT I NEED TO KNOW WHERE IS EVERYONE FROM. I WANNA SEE WHAT THE EASTCOASTERS AND WESTCOASTERS WANT? AND CHICAGO TOO. SO ONE MORE TIME LET ME KNOW AND PLEASE LEAVE THE LOCATION YOU ARE FROM. AND REMEMBER I AM ASKING ABOUT A NEW COMPILATION WITH NEW ARTISTS. NOT THE OLD ARTISTS FROM BACK IN THE DAYS. THANKS

WILLIE V.

I like old school, but I do prefer the new school stuff from artists like Elissa, Dimi, and Maurizio. They're all from Toronto and so am I, maybe that's why I like their style. 😀

New School FreeStyle

I would like some New School (non-Progressive) FreeStyle.

Good examples of what I mean are:

Jacqui Cenci - "Memories" (Carlos Berrios Freestyle Mix)
Laura - "Only In My Dreams" (Dreaming Freestyle Mix)
L.A.W. - "Missing Your Love" (Insane-Kool Mix)
Synthia Figueroa - "You Were Meant For Me" (Club Mix with awesome edits)

- Fernando Benitez from San Diego, CA -

miami florida right here! but i agree with fernando about his selection of new school songs. those mentioned above were my favorites at one time especially "memories" by jaqui cenci, that was my favorite song of 1998!
peace

Jacqui Cenci is progressive to me, being electronic-sounding. But style is always subjective around here.

Like I said, I'm getting more and more into Progressive. One of the reasons being that there hasn't been too many good Old School style songs lately. I'm SoCal, but I like Norcal music, because it's the most danceable. The Miami stuff sounds good too.

But Willie, I liked your Old School style better than your Progressive style. I think Progressive style will work for you if you mix some of those complex synth and string sections you had on the first four Parades with Progressive beats and basslines. That'll be sweet! 🙂

I mostly like old school and a lil bit of the new stuff.

You know where Im from 😉

MY OPINION !!!!

WELL IN MY OPINION I WOULD LIKE TO SEE NEW STUFF WITH NEW ARTSISTS... I'M FROM "BOSTON MASS" REPRESENTINGGGGG!!!!!!

SOFT FREESTYLE (slower, more radio-less club)
EDITS (often called bonus beats on the singles- sound effects loops and scratches)
CLASSIC FREESTYLE (before 1984 Lisa Lisa)(this is changing cause we are all getting old)

i'm from austin!!! 😀

wassup Willie....

Nothin' new that i like much..just Synthia Figuerora..and a couple of good new ones that are not out on the radio waves that i might of missed..NYC..da bronx zoo..🙄

hmmm...

well I am from Queens, NY as you know....

I love old school and it will always have a place in my heart but I have so many CDs with old school mixes I personally would be more willing to spend my $$ on a new school CD with hard beats that I can dance to. I need something new, not the same old stuff remixed.

Lets face it, nobody is uprocking anymore 🙂

I love old school, but with music changing all the time, I would prefer progressive Freestyle. It is the closest chance we have to get it back on the radio. I am from CHICAGO and am hoping Energy 92.7/5 will start playing a new Freestyle song here and there. It would be great if you could get some old school artists to do some new tracks.

well willie i don't think telling you what i like will really get you anywhere but probably another production sounding similar to sumin else. i just think it's time for something different. if anything you should focus on making a freestyle record with current dance/pop/r&b/hip-hop elements. like current records like:

"heard it all before" by sunshine anderson
"get your freak on" by missy elliot
"one more time" by daft punk
"lady marmalade" by those hoes!

anyways i just think getting inspiration from current popular records, rather than other freestyle records would make a better product. but as for records that i love that are freestyle are:

"i won't stop loving you" by c-bank >> the bassline & synths are phat!
"louder than love" by tka >> a very dramatic song
"do you miss me" & "a little bit of ecstasy" by jocelyn enriquez >> both cathy and good productions
"release me" & "i don't need your love" by angelina >> catchy
"set u free" by planet soul >> i like the switching the track goes thru
"i wonder if i take you home" by lisa lisa >> good song that relate to many teens and young adults
"take me in your arms" by lil suzy >> catchy song, kids love it!

but anyway those are just some songs that make good examples of writing and production. anyways i'm learning my producing skills and hopefully i will have sumin for yall in the future! let free style "progress"

i love old school but for a comp i would say old school with a new school twist!!!! i am from jersey!!!!
