what needles does everyone use....i got a set of ortofon nightclub......whats the best needles for recording?

The Orofon Nightclub needles (the ones with the yellow tip) are your best bet. you got yourself a quailty set.

I use those for recording all the time... remember, you also need a high quality mixer and recorder (preferably something digital) but any medium to high quality equipment will do you great with those!

I have tried many needles, and by far the loudest, clearest and the one with the least pops and ticks is the nightclub.

when you hear pop and ticks....is the vinyl scratched or needle is damaged.....

True to a point...

Records are "mechanical" and with that there will allways be "record Noise". you can't avoid it... but higher grade needles can deffinatly reduce the pop's and ticks.

I was considering buying one of those one-piece cartridges and was wondering if the stanton and orofon are comparable. Is one better than the other? Which is the best model for the buck? Can someone tell me.

I don't want to knock the stanton, but the ones that look like the Orofon night club's are a clear knock off.

Stanton is a great brand, plus they have been around for a long time... they are trust worthy and long lasting needles.

but the Orofon are far superior. much better sound quality and durable. they cost a little more than the stanton (about 110 bucks each) but once you get one pair, they will last you a long time. plus they come in a cool case with an extra stylus.

if you compare them side by side, you can tell that you get more bang for you buck when it comes to Orofon.

I have used both brands, and i have been in the biss for a while. Both work great, but i pick Orofon.

Yo, I am glad to see another shopper of Pro Sound in Cali. I am using Statons on my 1200's but depending on the application, I go with the 680EL MKII for general use and 505SK for scratchin' purposes.
