I know there has been talk about artist going gold/platinum.

But what about total sales (singles & albums)? does anyone know? is there a site to look at?

i recall reading that back in the early, early days of freestyle, it wasn't unusal for a artist like safire, cynthia, tka to sell anywhere between 50,000 and 150,000 copies of a single. and we're talking about their first releases before they began getting airplay, which would reach out to even more people and bring up sales of their 2nd, 3rd, etc... releases -

purple pill.
(do you roll?)

first. In the early days of freestyle. EArly days......cynthia wasnt out yet.there was Cynthia roundtree.

ok ok, i know what you getting at.

but yes it was common for artist to sell that amount. before radio, thay already reached thousands and thousands of people through street promotion, undergound radio, clubs, etc. it was a whole subcultural thing.. (and to think that back then we didnt have the internet we do have today). but all these artist went out and busted their chops, as did promoters and the labels of that time.

see, back then labels took care and overlooked everything from the production room to the street. everything from artist cultivation and development and how many people where reached in the clubs and street.

today..labels rather just sighn something that is already developed or sign something in as an import. they really dont have much with production.some do.but others are more & more like distribution.

i mean back in the day there was more heart into freestyle acts and most people saw that and fell in love with it. people felt that strugle and had been captured. You market that whole image and strugle to the millions of young hispanics in miami and new york and l.a.,,, the core markets when freestyle first began...you will reach those numbers if you prove yourself and they love you.
with lil air play, as long as you target the street and clubs the right way.

and those are numbers of non boot legs and peopl who didnt buy it.

is there a chart to look at total sales...im sure there is somewhere.
if not i guesse you can call allthe labels and ask them for it.

in our camp..we have all the expose platinum records on the wall...if i was to ask lewis martinee..."hey is there a chart for TOTAL sales on expose"...he would look at me as if i was c razy...he doesnt even know that or makit a mission to find out. expose went multi platinum with many records...alot of others groups went platinum also.

but why this question...do you have to get this info to report to a label that freestyle did sell once upon a time?

but so far..i dont know of any chart available on any site that cares to put total sales on freestyle records.
