DEAR BROTHER THE DOUBLE CD W/TEMPO AND PITCH CONTROL... YOU CANT GO WRONG WITH THAT. UNLESS YOU WANT TO LEARN FROM BEGINNERS OLD SCHOOL IS THE WAY...I HAVE BOTH DUE TO WIDE COLLECTION OF MUSIC BUT THE CD'S THE DUAL CD PLAYERS RUN ABOUT $599 - $699 DEPENDING ON THE BRAND AND ALL.....PERSONALLY I SUGGEST NUMARK...THE FALLEN ANGEL

Although I have nothing against anybodys decision, I personally use two single unit cd players. I use and have a lot more cds so that's what help me decide. Also, dual cd players are nice but sometimes if you're not carefull one laser eye can go and that makes the entire unit unless until you have it repaired. Found out how much you are willing to pay and also think about what will you use more cds or records.

Personally I'm a vinyl guy. 98% of all my music is on vinyl. Most peeps who are starting to DJ now will use CD's since the music is easier accessible (although downloading music and using it to dj and to get paid is illegal). It's hard to get some of them dance classics or anthems on vinyl. Especially if you wanna spin freestyle, good luck in finding the freestyle classics on vinyl. If you're going to use CD players I would recommend the Pioneer CDJ-100's. They are a good cd player to start off w/ and not that expensive. They run around $299.99 a piece at www.pssl.com .

My suggestions

If you want to get started, go simple, get table tops. I'll suggest you to get either the Gemini CDJ-15 or CDJ-20 (this model has a jog wheel) if you want to start mixing with CDs (at an affordable price), but if you want to learn the real deal in DJing, get turntables too!! For starters, get belt drive turntables, since they are more delicate than direct-drive turntables (I suggest Gemini XL-400-II belt drive turntables). You will learn how to work the vinyl and at the same time learn how to control your hand speed and pressure you put on the platters while cueing.

If you decide to go for a dual deck, get Numark CDN-88 (I now own one of these babies) or CDN-90 (the upgraded version of the CDN-88, which is software upgradeable). Make sure you have an extra portable cd player or two if the dual deck decides to act up!! Personally, I kept my pair of Gemini CDJ-10s just in case I have problems, and I also have an extra mixer just in case (and a cassette deck as well). I even have the idea to buy a second AMP in case the one I have (which is very reliable yet powerful) decides to die (even though I bought it this year since the old Sony one rested in pieces and made me buy one at Radio Shack! LOL)
