For all the DJ’s out there. Vinyl or CD? Which is easier and more commonly used?

I’m thinking about getting into DJ’in. All inputs would be helpful.

hmmm....

well, in some aspects, i like cd's...BUT, i love the vinyl. There's nuthin' like the vinyl records, easier to mix, scratch, blend. I'm not sayin' that u cant do that to cd's, yeah i have cds...but i prefer vinyl.....peaceouttie,

daBigM...😀

This is another vote for vinyl, but you better have the coin for the turntables and needles, especially the space for all those crates of records.

I agree with everyone else..........VInyl, and as for the turntables? The Technics 1200's are expensive, but they last forever. I've been using the same ones for 15 years.

easier? CD
prefer? vinyl
y? cause i like to scratch a but and its easier to control how u fade one song to the next with vinyl... but, with thses CD scratch machines out now... its a lot eaiser to just DJ with CDs... but i still like my vinyl selecti0on better and the way it sounds...

We cant win 'em all...heheh, cd's get scratched very easily than vinyl..(what i think)..and Vinyl gets really freakin' dusty no matter how well its packed in the crates. i even wear my t-shirt that reads: VINYL FREAK from Urban Outfitters...lol,

peaceouttie,

daBigM...

Got to be VINYL. I have never mixed with cd even though I have a cd mixer. I use that for live accapellas.

I'm with all U guys as far as UR love 4 VINYL!!!!
But like Alex said.......it's alot heavier 2 carry!!! and my back ain't tha way it used to be!! (Luggin' all my sh*t around)......I've worked 4 6 different mobile entertainment companies here on LI bee4 my partner & I started our own!!!
Now I spin smaller discs.....lol

P.S. I do transfer all my VINYL onto cd w/tha help of SpinDoctor from Adaptec. (I still buy VINYL!!!!!!!)😀

I look at my crates now and think, Gosh, what am I gonna do now with all this shiz? I even don't remember what a lot of them sound like. MC Brains, Tara Kemp, etc. Who??? All these records just gathering dust.

CD's -- hide 'em, under your bed, upload 'em to your computer, make custom comps, make custom-edits, burn copies, rather than buying doubles of records.

Vinyl is easier to match beats, mix, and scratch with.
Vinyl sounds nicer than CDs, but only if they don't have scratches on them.
It's so much more convenient carrying CDs and a dual CD player, than records and 1200's. Them heavy suckers!
