Iraq's interim prime minister said the United States will hand over Saddam Hussein and all other detainees to Iraq's new government as sovereignty is restored.

U.S. officials have said they plan to continue to hold up to 5,000 prisoners considered a threat to the coalition.

However, in an interview with Al-Jazeera television, Prime Minister Iyad Allawi said Iraqi officials expect to take possession of Saddam and all other detainees with the transfer of power on June 30.

Allawi said the former Iraqi president would stand trial "as soon as possible" but gave no specific time frame.

Saddam has been in American custody at an undisclosed location in Iraq since his capture last December near Tikrit. His status has been under discussion as the formal end of the U.S.-led occupation approaches.

You guys don't think that the Prime Minister would let Saddam and the other prisoners go, do you? :confused Hmm...

Saddam is a threat to the world - the USA should hold him.
What a coincidence it would be if we handed over Saddam and he broke free under Iraqi control..
They can even police their own streets.

No, let iraq take him, not America...America have made so much damage outside their own borders for the last 20-30 years in their "we save world BS"...stepped on so many other countrys/peoples pride...the result was a angry terror attack in sept. 2001...But have America learned something from it?...no, not at all, it looks like Americans don't know the world...if USA holds Saddam, the result will be even more wrath against USA...from the middle east, and europe...it's hard to draw the picture here in such a short reply...

Peace!!!
