Hi Tony,
I repost the message that I put on the other thread because I'm not sure that you saw my answer or I didn't see a repsonse from you.
So Tony, about Freestyle in Europe and in France...
I was in current that few German tracks are played in Canada, especially since Ventura International records put some German songs on their two last compilations. But most of the songs available on those comps are old.
It's great to see that the Canadian Freestylers have now the possibility to discover the "German Freestyle style" that is very similar that the "Canadian style". A bunch of the German Products use the Planet Rock beat for instance.
I just make the wish that the songs which will feature on the upcoming compilations/medleys from your country will be well selected and good. Because as Canada, Germany produces a ton of cheesey/shitty productions. It's very important to do a severe selection to avoid to flood the
Canadian Freestyle market with awful German productions.
Even if the Freestyle actuality is quieter than in the past, the German labels as for instance ZYX
Music & MNF Records release a bunch of new singles and comps every month.
I'm personally following the German actuality and I'm buying most of the new productions. If you need any information feel free to email me: ftanneur@club-internet.fr
As for France, unfortunately, the last Freestyle song I've heard on the radios or in the clubs was "Where does that leave love" by George Lamond in 1992 or 1993!
Freestyle music doesn't exist in France.
What do you mean when you make the difference between Electro and true Freestyle? Are you
talking about Old & New School Freestyle?
For instance, Freestyle Project is considered as a Electro Freestyle group!!!
Most of people have to know that the only country to produce and distribute Freestyle music in
Europe is Germany. There is more Freestyle productions (singles & compilations) than in Canada, and sometimes than in the U.S. (all depends of the months). Of course, I'm talking about the productivity, not the sales.
But it's true, these last months, the productivity has been less intense than at the beginning of the summer.
About The UnderDog Project's track "Summer jam", this song has been distributed in Germany one year and half ago in Germany and in some of European countries. I'm considering the style of some of their songs as a new form of Freestyle music that mixes wisely Electro Freestyle and 2-Step genres with R & B vocals. They are not the first ones to do that, Cibola productions already did that for some American R & B bands. It's often quite successful. Just my opinion!!! 🙂
Hope that I answered to your question...
Until next time.
Francis
