LAMUSICA EXCLUSIVE: George Lamond Joins Forces with TKA

Over the last several years a number of singers have crossed back and forth across the musical spectrum more times than a NY Waterway ferry crosses the Hudson. Now George Lamond is about to make a return journey to his musical roots. George is hooking up with the T (Tony) and K (K7) of TKA to form a 21st century incarnation of the group (officially called "TKA featuring George Lamond").
During the 80s, TKA had a string of freestyle hits including "Maria" and "One Way Love". During that era, George was a successful freestyle solo artist, best known for the hit "Bad of the Heart". By joining forces, the new trio will have plenty of hit material to entertain a live audience of freestyle fans. But unless you're talking about the Rolling Stones, a band does not survive on old hits alone.
Well, I got an exclusive listen to a demo tape of TKAfGL and I was really impressed. The group has progressed beyond 80s freestyle to a more sophisticated R&B/Dance sound with (hurray!) real instruments like acoustic guitar and flute. On top of that, George is singing the way I like it, baby: good use of phrasing, real free and without straining his voice. You will be surprised.
The group is in its early stages, working on their new material and choreography and looking for the right management and recording deals. I will keep you posted on any new developments but as always please remember that you heard it here first!
