I've dreamt of drinking from you lips
and being pressed against your hips
it haunts my mind all those times
you're laying with me through the twelve chimes
you came here crying, drunk again

grabbed some aspirin, water in a glass
take these, drink this, the pain will pass
I’ll make up the bed, so you can rest awhile

my slumber had stopped on the designated number
as silence awakened me from my slumber
I opened my eyes to see your face next to mine
partially asleep, can't help but think it’s a sign
a faint stench of alcohol still on your breath
firmly your hand is pressed on my chest
unbearable, this feeling inside burning
so I pull on the covers as I start turning
tensed up my muscles I try to move slow
rolled on my side, didn't want you to know
"Stop moving around, I need you, to sleep."
I’m sure at that moment you felt my heart leap
you nuzzled against me with a sigh of relief
I'm holding back feelings in total disbelief
I look over & see your lips inches away
I take a deep breath to hold emotions at bay
"Sleep Hun, I'll be still the rest of the night."
God, nothing has ever quite felt so right
just a nudge away our lips would meet
I try to slow my quickening heart beat
I breathe you in so close to a kiss
damn, could it ever get any tougher that this?
laying here with your arm across my chest
there is no way tonight I'll get any rest
the clock bangs out twelve chimes
like all the other times
