In NYC handling my biz!!!!
I guess it's that time of the year where all the colds, flu, viruses, etc start to linger around waiting to get the next victim(s). Well my son was complaining about his throat hurting when he swallows on Sunday. That night in the middle of the night, he got fever, was stuffy and had a restless night. In the morning, I asked him how he was feeling and he told me his throat was hurting even more. So he missed school cause off to the pediatrician we were. And what was the culprit?



Strep Throat!!!!! :mad

So antibiotics it is now. Doctor put him out today from school and said he can go back tomorrow. They usually give him amoxicillin but he may be allergic to it since he reacted the last time on it by breaking out in a rash so they had to give him Zithromax. His tonsils are extremely large and his pediatrician is going to refer him to the Ear,Nose, and Throat Hospital.

Being a parent means, NEVER REST! :smirk

Yeah Henny, you're right......it's not cool. The bad thing about this is he was referred to Mt. Sinai Hospital for ENT clinic to decide if his tonsils are going to come out or not. But those doctors over there pissed me off referring me to the Chest clinic that they never got to the point with me on what should be done. So now, hopefully, I'll have better luck with the Ear, Nose and Throat hospital. The antibiotics is doing him good. He just had some chicken soup. He asked for it and I made it for him quick. 🙂
 
aww I hope he feels better. I know its so hard when the kiddies are sick.. i feel so bad for my daughter when she gets sick, when she was younger she always had ear infections almost every other month, thank god she hasn't really had any she is 5 now..I hope he feels better soon!!

My son was getting a lot of ear infections too when he turned 2 yrs old. Now he's 5 and getting a lot of strep.
 
It could be kindergarden.. 3 kids from my daughter's class were out due to strep throat.. and this weather is not helping it was freezing last friday and this morning, and this whole week
 
aww betty. i hope ur son feels better.

there is a nasty A** flu going around. My best friend had it... and OMG! la pobre... she suffered for a week. its real bad. she had it all... strep throat, fever... everything...
 
Yeah the flu is a real b*atch. And thank you Diamond for your well wishes. I just hope he doesn't get a relapse because I remember one time he had strep, they gave him zithromax and then he got strep the following week again. So he needed something stronger.

And yes Queensgurl, in Kindergarten their prone to anything. Those kids give eachother their germs. What can we do right? They have to go to school.

That's why I've never taken the flu shot. I've heard how people have gotten real sick off of it. :nono Not for me. Good you're feeling better now. 🙂
 
Well I already have a cold.. this weather up here has screwed me up.. Do you know how horrible it is when ur body is achy and u r not in the mood to get outta bed and u gotta get up to walk the F*n dog at 6:30 am???? OMG!!!
Anybody interested in a 6month old American Eskimo???????????????

Sounds like the start of the flu........ feel better.
 
today I got a call from my daughters teacher saying she "threw up" and is not feeling well and complaining of her throat, so i picked her up and when i took her temperature it was 103.2, i took her to the doctors and he said she has a throat infection and took a strep culture and gave her antibiotics.. when I was at the doctors i thought of your son, these poor kids 🙁 labetty how is your son feeling, better i hope

Awwww, sorry to hear that Queensgurl. My son is feeling better with the antibiotics given to him. Give your daughter her antibiotics and she'll be feeling like herself soon. My son hasn't been to school Mon,Tues, or Wed. Tomorrow there's no school. But I'll be taking him Friday.

Hope your daughter gets better son.
