A little boy told the girl of his dreams
That forever with her is all that he sees
He asked this young girl if she loved the same way
To meet him at midnight and not to be late
He told the girl listen, please be on time
One second past midnight would mean its goodbye
I want to spend forever, loving just you
So try to be early, maybe a second or two
As the boy walked away, he turned to the girl
And said that at midnight, he was betting the world
He told the young girl, if at midnight you’re there
I know you will love me, the greatest life we will share
But if you’re not there, at the stroke of midnight
I know you don’t love me, and to go on is not right
If you are not there, I forever will know
That we’re not meant to be, so you’re letting me go
The little girl stood dead in her tracks
And thought of the answer for the question just asked
Could she marry this boy, she’s known all her life
Could she love this young boy and become a wife
She looked at the boy and watched for a while
Then felt that same feeling that came with a smile
He was the one, she knew in her heart
He was the one, she knew from the start
The little boy waited, for nighttime to fall
It would be at midnight, that he’d give her his all
He started his journey, leading to steps
Of the church that he went to, where they had first met
The little boy stood there, weak in the knees
The little boy stood, waiting impatiently
Waiting for his very beloved to arrive
Betting his future was the ring put inside
This little girl kept running, just one more street
Where the young boy and young girl were destined to meet
Waiting for this day, all of her life
Betting her future was to become his wife
She knew she must hurry, the time had drawn near
But tears in her eyes made her vision unclear
She was so excited, couldn’t wait to see him
Soon they’d be together, and forever to begin
But just as she came to the very last road
Something terrible happened, a disaster to unfold
A car hit the girl, she stood not a chance
The driver had been drinking, a 23 year old man
The little boy sat there on the steps of the church
Waiting for hours, but that didn’t work
The girl never showed and as tears filled his eyes
He thought of the love that just died inside
The boy walked away, tonight he walked slow
He took his sweet time, to find his way home
The girl was not waiting, he would not miss her call
He had nothing to live for, nothing at all
As the boy struggled to find, sense of this hell
He was living a nightmare, and to his knees he soon fell
He looked to the heaven and asked for a sign
To comfort his heartache but no response came in time
He came to a bridge that looked to be right
To end all his suffering, to end it tonight
He climbed over the rail and said his goodbyes
Because without his young girl, he would rather just die
