How many freakin' posts must be made about whether Stevie B is or is not the king of freestyle or that George Lamond is the real king etc.The last good CD Stevie B made was his FIRST CD after that CD he try to crossover with pop and flopped(remember "pump that body") that was god awful cheesy music similiar to Bobby Brown lol!

If you guys know anything about good freestyle music you would give props to artists that are extremely talented such as Tony Moran. Not only did he do rocked it as an editor but he recorded classic music first under the Latin Rascals and later on his own.None of his song sound the same nor did he ever got lazy and used that corny ass planet rock beat.He even resurrected Noel's sing career from thge grave with the song "the question".Now thats someone who is worthy of the label "King of Freestyle".Not someone that has recorded over 100 songs with the same dumb beat. And then we wonder why freestyle isn't given more props or credit or taken serious by other people haha!

And no I ain't mad at you....just telling it like it is.

Someone should go back in time and stop Afrika Bamabata from creating the planet rock beat lol. They had no idea that in the future that beat would be used and abused by lazy producers who don't know how to make their own beat.Get out of the game if you don't know how to play with the pros.

Actually someone should go back and make sure Bambaataa has it legally owned by him in order to gain the money he deserves instead of having it all go to Tom Silverman. If you don't know who Tom Silverman is, do your homework. As far as the "king" title goes, why are names like Chris Barbosa, John Robie, and Arthur Baker never mentioned? Again, do your homework people.

LOL, was that remark made cause I was "too lazy" and used a Planet Rock beat in one of her tracks?

I wasn't trying to disrespect you, I was simply showing that this subject is tired. What offended me was the fact that you stated that if a producer uses a loop, he is lazy. If you're not into the Planet Rock beat, don't listen to it. I agree that it is way overused and abused, but I also feel that it can still be used if used properly. You just bashed on a ton of producers. How do you expect us to react?

Call it bashing if you want.I call it constructive criticism and there's no doubt that unless freestyle producers retired that loop this genre will continue to get no major radio airplay.

Is that right? It sure seemed to work for X-scape & Missy Elliot. I know they're not freestyle but they used it and got major radio play. We, just need to target a whole new audience. There's a whole new genereation out there.

I hear what you're saying, it's past overkill, but to each his/her own.

Tony Moran, Stevie B, Chris Barbosa, etc... all are incredibly talented artists and producers. I hate that people feel they need to put people in competition like that. All deserve respect and should be commended for what they've done for Freestyle (despite if you like their music or not).

As far as Pete Zavala... Pete is amazing! I just finished working on a second track with him and have to say he knows his stuff. I sought him out as a producer because I was impressed with his talent and versatility. I respect him immensely for having an incredible knowledge of our Freestyle history and for wanting to take chances to help continue Freestyle's progression. Aside from his incredible producing talents, he's an awesome person who is down to earth and cool as hell.

This is the type of stuff we all talk about that we don't need. NIghtrayn-It would have been so much more effective if you would have shared some of your positive comments about Tony Moran and helped shed some light on why people should respect him so much. Hating on others doesn't make someone else look better. In truth, I think most would have posted about how they agreed with how great Tony's work is. It's unfortunate that the good things you have to say get lost in what seems to be so much anger. Thank you for supporting the music regardless. It's great to have you as a part of our community.

Night Trayn Personally I like the "Planet Rock" beat which the majority of Euro Freestyle songs use. I mean if you think using the same beat is so un-original, then the same could be said for Reggaeton.

I agree with you one thing though .... Tony Moran does indeed qualify has a "King Of Freestyle" ... I guess some people wouldn't bring up the name Tony Moran so much because he's been more of a "behind the scenes" guy and made more hits that way.

But I still stand by George Lamond not being a "King of Freestyle" ... a "King" should do more than just sing, and that's the only talent George has. The guy never song writes and never produces any of his own material.

First off,I never hated on anyone.I don't like Stevie's music and some of it is extremely cheesy. That's having a preference,a certain taste if you will. His music is not my flavor. So there's no need to be defensive as last time I checked not liking someone's music did not qualify as a hate crime. When it comes to the planet rock there are those who like it and im sure there's a market out there for it.I don't think its that large of a market to bring freestyle back to radio play nor the clubs. And ask anyone in radio, programmers will never touch a planet rock freestyle song for play. Not any major station. The music industry will continue to ignore our music with these types of productions. Why is that so hard to see?

I wonder if Lamond, Moran or Stevie concern themselves with the idea of who's king & who isn't? Maybe. Maybe not. Personally I don't think so. I wonder what their answer would be if I asked them who they thought was king. They'd probably think it was a silly question on my part. Who knows?

For all we know, their main focus might actually be on their new material they're working on.

As for Planet Rock. The song still has a place in my heart & memory. I only wish the beat hadn't been used by so many artists & producers. It's only inevitable that said artists & producers are gonna get their creativity questioned. But no criticism here. All these guys are human like me. We don't always make the right call. What seemed like a good idea at the time and turned out to be a not-so-good idea, that's acceptable. If you try and use the same idea again expecting different results, then shame on you. Being original is not that easy in today's world, but I'll be damned if it's not possible.

George Lamond does write and produce. He wrote "Lately" with carlos berrios and co produced it as well. He also has a balled right now that he wrote and was produced by Edwin Ramos. He didnt do much back in the days because he had a great team behind him. He was fucused on singing and performing. He had one of the best shows back in the day. George Lamond is the KING of freestyle hands down. No one can sing live like George, NO ONE!

I agree that George Lamond kicks ass, but you guys are putting him on a throne that he would probably refuse, modestly of course. But I could be wrong. Does anyone have direct contact with the guy? Maybe someone could could ask him what he thinks of all this 'king of freestyle' business.

George Lamond is also my pick. Awesome vocals, better hair do & better looks than Stevie B. I also like Stevie B., but my pick simply goes to George Lamond for his overall passion expressed in his FREESTYLE videos.

As far as the PLANET ROCK, I'm personally still not burned out on it. I think if it's done right, it can do wonders on any new track.

Peace!

What's up Willie? Nice to see you posting man. I guess you have recovered based on the fact that you will be performing in CT later this month.

Good luck man and welcome back!

Nothing is confirmed as of yet. But hopefully this will be my first show back. My throat feels better but still not 100%. This is a challenge I am looking forward to. Little scared though, I have to admit. I dont want to hurt myself. But lets pray everything will work out.

Stevie B's Songs maybe "cheesy" to you, but I would have to say He is still making a hell of a living doing what he does best and that is entertain people. In my personal Opinion Stevie is the King of Freestyle with many more names right on his tail. But the "Planet Rock" beat made these songs classics in the Freestyle world today! But everyone is entitled to there own Opinion, But don't rip on the artists and Producers who use that beat. It has made alot of them alot of money along the way and everybody has to make a living. And as long as there is an audience for it let them make it! If you dont like listening to that music then don't! But like I said everyone is entitled to there opinion.

thats a good point his modesty..the first time i met him he asked me if i was one of the bouncers in a club he was preforming at..then he shocked me by asking me if i was TAE..and shook my hand, totally caught me by surprise.. iaround that time he was actually on the boards here..and thats how he recognized me... after he preformed he sat with a whole group of us from CF and just talked and joked around..joey kidd was with us to..but the main thing i got was how humble he was....down to earth...unlike alot of self proclaimed artist who actually cant sing well at all, but go around acting as if the whole world should kiss thier ass..and theres alot of those types of people in our circle of freestyle
