first & foremost... I am all for supporting the genre & BUYING the music... be it freestyle or ANY music. BUT... lets face some HUGE facts here...
the mp3 format is NOT going to go away.
I do agree w/ the fact of...why do I need to buy an entire album for 1 song.. (regardless of genre)
Being a DJ....( I work for Big Apple Ent.).. I see what we go through at times finding music & as sad as it is to say the... even w/ the monthly promos, the dj tools, the comps, the platinum series..etc.. we still need to download music to make everyone happy.
where i see the point to buying the music & supporting the genre...
the point of mp3 & file sharing is also greatly understood.
Lets also not forget how much it cost for a CD these days...$15 easy...
and the company cost of producing that 1 cd.... less than a $1.
I think w/ all the vinyl, cassettes & cd's I HAVE purchased (& still will do so when needed)... WE the consumer have MORE than paid our fair share to the industry.
the sad truth is the people who suffer are the fans....b/c of cost & the artists who don't have a multi million dollar contract.
On a side note.. Here at CF.. i was under the impression we ALL had a right to our opinions... while the buy a cd opinion is ok... so should the mp3 i want to share.
& a grandmaster status should not be exploited to impose your own will...
i am not looking tomake enemies....& i am totally on the fence about this... could go either way.. BUT I think we ALL need to respect eachother decisions of how we share & promote not just freestyle...BUT all music. b/c this is a HOT topic that is not going away anytime soon.
MP3 sharers... take note... there is also a tasteful, discreet way to pass along what you have & want. AGAIN... it's a respect among us all..
BOTTOM LINE.. LETS ALL JUST DO WHAT WE CAN TO GET THE MUSIC OUT THERE!!!!!
MY RESPECT TO ALL OF YOU...!
