Damn, I just found out (10 days later) that Mel Cheren passed away on December 7th, 2007 of complications of AIDS.

Mel was the man behind West End records.....he was also the one who signed Karen Young and released her hit "Hot Shot". West End records released a shitload of Disco and early House tracks and the sounds were heard all throughout New York City and at the Paradise Garage (which Mel co-owned), where the legendary Larry Levan used to spin.

Wow....all I say is that there is going to be one huge Mel/Paradise Garage tribute in NYC in the next few months and I'm def. going to be there.
