I consider her a freestyle artist, yes. Just because she had great success in the pop industry, doesn't mean she isn't a freestyle artist as well. Back in the day, "Tell It To My Heart" wasn't considered to be any different than other freestyle songs.

Piacere mi paisans hehehehe
Yea I never thought of her as freestyle, but I suppose there are no concrete rules in regards to this. To me a good song is a good song. Tell it toooo my heart la la la
Heheheh

YES, I DO ALSO BUT MORE "POP", HOWEVER. I LOVE THIS LONG ISLAND GIRL!

I take my comment back. after she performed at a free outdoor show in my town and said she felt safer living in europe than new york, she can kiss my ass and i will never support her again!

Kenny - you are kidding - she said that???? :whateva

Personally I felt that Taylor Dayne was more mainstream than Freestyle, tho for a time Freestyle was "the mainstream".. *sigh* those were the days....

Did y'all catch that new song that has the sample of Lisa Lisa in it :sunshine Hopefully that means that there will be more dance/freestyle on the horizon

Taylor Dayne had an amazing voice, esp. with "Tell it to my Heart"! She first came out as a freestyler, but then she became mainstream! Just like George Lamond and Brenda K Starr, they are now both into salsa.

The woman definitely has a super voice...a true singer. It's a shame that her career didn't continue on its "upswing" past the very early '90s. I'd say that she recorded several "freestyle" songs (funny, but we just used to call it dance music back in the '80s --- I'm 39 --- and even that was a code word for basically "disco" - which you couldn't admit you liked for fear of backlash...LOL!) but she was/is so talented that she was/is capable of recording songs in all styles.

yeah Taylor was koo.

Yeah I mean to me "Tell It To My Heart" was a HOT Freestyle Jam but to me she was more of a pop artist, I mean what other songs other than that one really sounded freestyle. I think it was "Prove Your Love" and maybe "Don't Rush Me" just a bit. I mean to me tell it to my heart was an essential freestyle jam and it was funny cause Ric Wake produced it and he wasn't ever really a freestyle producer. I also recall him producing a song for Mariah Carey for her first album that was titled "Prisoner" and that song was very FREESTYLE.
