🙁 Ok, so she's not considered "freestyle", but I at least thought of her music as "DANCE"!! Like an 80's style, back in the day.

So, there I was Sat. night, right near the outdoor stage. She had 2 female back-up dancers, and a band that was pretty damn tight. She sang "Don't Rush Me", that sounded OK, "I'll Always Love you" was very soulfully sung, and pretty lenghthy, "Prove Your Love" was Ok too, nothing spectacular, and she closed the show with "Tell It To My Heart". Now I'm expecting that song to sound pretty much like the good ol'days, and to my shock/dismay/dissapointment it sounded like a cross between R&B and Blues!! I was speechless!!

My youngest daughter (she's 22) was saying to me, what happened to her?? I'm like I think she got older and changed her style. According to our newspaper she is now 40!! Can you believe it??
She told the crowd that she's basically single, and has 2 children.

She came on stage in a long flowing black, sparkily duster, open to show her tummy lol. Low black pants, boots from what I remember, I liked her belt lol, and her hair was blonde, long and thick, like the pic on my maxi cassette. She looks older of course, but she danced well, was dressed nice, her voice is deep and lower than I remembered, but it's a strong voice, with a good vocal range.

Can someone get this girl to sing FREESTYLE maybe? If any of you go to see her expecting to hear her songs sound like they did when they were recorded, let me warn you that they don't sound that way from what I heard. So the bottom line is I liked her show, but I wished the songs sounded like longer versions of the originals.

Has anyone else heard her sing recently?? What did you think??😕

Hi Kenny and Enjolique!!

🙂This was my second time seeing Taylor Dayne perform, the first being in the 80's when she was trying to hit the big time.

I enjoyed the show, but I still prefer the Dance versions of her songs. She's really matured, and her voice is excellent, but very deep and low. Does that mean she can no longer sing freestyle/dance?
Like when I listen to freestyle and dance alot of the female singers sing to a faster beat most of the time and their voices are higher than hers.

Kenny, have you been to one of her shows recently? If so, what did you think? Any chance we can get her to sing freestyle lol??

True- some voices can be higher, but can also sound like shit. Taylor, on the other hand, has a great voice and can be high as well. Anyone who is a fan of her music would know that she has put out several dance tracks in the last 3 years and they sound no where close to Freestyle, but are true club anthems.

In interview with Musique Plus (the french canadian mtv) back in 1992; Taylor Dayne stated that she was not proud of her freestyle mega hits "tell it to my heart" and "prove your love". She stated that at the time, she had a week to amke a record and went with a sound that was hot at the time: freestyle She had tried other stypes, pop/rock and blues to no avail until noticed by Arista Records. Now, she is signed to an indie record company with no distribution support.
