I just feel blaming this one and that one puts us in the wrong direction, and allows us to lose focus.
Right now all of the New School, should be consentrating on how to improve, need it be quality of music/production, vocals, show, image, what have you.
Those things right there are what hold us back, not being fully prepared .
Remember one thing if a new school artist is part of a major show and does not live up to exspectation as an artist, who will we blame then?
This just allows us new school artist more time to develope, what will be exspected of us.
I know Willie is gonna kick some major ass on stage because he was already prepared, but are we all prepared to do the same , that is the quiestion.
If you are a new school artist and really have to think about that quiestion , then the answer is hell no you're not ready.
This is the major reason behind the mystique of Nu Image.
We could have done tons of shows, but we were not ready as artist to do so.
So what if fans like our music, do we have what it takes to represent that music on stage , before we were not ready, now is a different story.
I can count on one hand the shows we did in 2003 so far.
We as new school artist need to give ourselves worth, and the only way to do that is by putting the whole artist package together.
Just because you have a song recorded and want to perform does not make you ready, and the sooner we realize this the better of an artists we will be.
We refuse to pimp ourselves, just to stand on a stage, we want to create a demand for a Nu Image show, and the only way to do that is by having our shit together as artist 360 all the way around.
Doing a hundred free shows in one year, does not help us as artist, but doing the right promos to promote , when you are ready to promote your music will.
We are involve in a business, a business of making and selling music. We have to creat a product that we think we can present to the public, we need to be able to present that product in the best possible way .
Radio is a big promotional tool,people hear your music , quess what your music was just promoted to the public.
Now people are interested in the artist , they go to one show , you blow them away , and guess what , they are now ready and wanting the physical product.
The more you are played on a station the better chance you will gain more listeners to your music , better hope they like it.
The more shows you are booked for in those areas the better chance you have at getting the public interested in your product, if so you need to capture those markets.
Please do not get me wrong I love the music from the heart , but the sooner we realize we are all involved in a business , the sooner we will know why a promotor books who they book.
The fans love the music too, but they are also our customers if we do not deliver a quality product all the way around, do you think they will spend their hard earn money on it. NOOOOOOOO
In the end we all have a love for FREESTYLE MUSIC , but in reality we need to treat this just like a business.
Hip Hop artist do, and beleive me they love the music it comes from within those artists, but you will not see any real hip hop artist not treating their music like a business.
Lets start creating a market for this music, it can be done , but it has to be a team effort.
