SAN BERNARDINO (AP) -- A San Bernardino teen mother is scheduled to be arraigned today on attempted murder and child abuse charges after her baby daughter was found in a trash can.

Prosecutors say 17-year-old Annette Soto is being charged as an adult in connection with life-threatening injuries to her two-month-old daughter Juliet.

Soto could face 18 years to life in prison if convicted.

Soto was arrested Tuesday after her mother called 911 to report the infant missing. Police found the girl minutes later wrapped in a blanket and lying face-down on top of debris in a neighbor's trash can.

Prosecutors say the infant suffered life-threatening injuries in separate abusive incidents that occurred over the last several days -- including skull fractures bruising to her face and a broken arm.

The baby is expected to survive
 
Thank god the baby will be ok.. but damn the mom should be in jail a long time how could people do that to the poor innocent babies :sosad
 
It's amazing... there are people who can't have children who would give them all the love and support in the world.. and then there are people who can have children who do things like this and it makes you wonder... where's the justice?
 
I dont care how old you are but if you can give up a life, especially one that youve created, you should be held 100% accountable for your actions.

I hope she gets a stiff sentence. Muder is murder, no matter the age.
 
its disgusting....there was just a story about a girl in new jersey who killed her baby and put him/her in a trash bag and threw it in her neighbors yard. But because she pled guilty, she gets 6 years probation. she will not serve one day in jail for murder. they are setting an example that its ok to kill babies. its really sick and i think these girls who murder their babies should have to get their tubes tied so that they can never have children again.
 
wow... she was smart enough to spread her legs for some lil !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!er... and she cant face the consequences she caused... hope she'll be found in a trash can one day... i despise people like that...
 
1sxchica I think that thats kind of harsh I do believe that she should get what she deserves but to hope or even say that she her self should be found in a dumpster is whoa Death is the one thing no one should wish on another person but hey thats your opinion so whatever. Well When I hear about things like this it makes me ask why would people do that to a baby? What goes through ones mind, if she did not want the baby the best thing to do is give it up for adoption. Thats like the episodes that have been happening out here in New York City where they have been finding new born babies with the umbilical cord still attached wrapped up in gift bags some dead and the others with out injuries. Its sad what is this world coming to as a soon to be mother I would not even think of hurting my child once I saw her in her first sonogram and felt her move there was this bond that I realize and know no one can break.
 
it's kind of HARSH? are u kidding me? if someone murdered your family member, u won't want that for them? I dunno about you... I think the BEST punishment is what you've attempted to do.. death for death and so forth... I dont give a rat's ass if people now think i'm cruel... trying to murder a baby and actually murdering it is THE SAME THING! the SAME thought, the SAME motive... only thankfully this is a different, GOOD outcome, but what if it was found too late? but whatever, she's the one that has to live her life with that on her mind.
 
yeah, i have to agree....an eye for an eye. i bet crime would decrease dramatically if that was the policy.
