I have to write this, because watching it from the crowds point of view was kinda scary!.lol

This weekend I went to see the Light up Orlando show, with TKA, Lamond, Stevie B and some others right? so of course they have the opening acts coem on, the first one beign my personal friend Trinity, she was ok, but still needs alot of stage work. stiff dancers, not a good at all, then Jennifer Glass came on, I didn't know her first song, but i had heard her second song, it was pretty cool, her dancers were cool, there is always one dancer that is better than the other. then Dana D came on, WOW! if I would have paid to see her perform in a club, I would have wasted my money. The songs are great, but the girl has no stage presence whatsoever, then i"m thinking maybe her back was hurting or something, but nah. SO I stand there thinking to myself, WOW! it's not only in Freestyle it's also in the Dance genre, what is it? do people just don't care anymore what they look like on stage? I mean I don't do flips on stage myself, but I least dance and try to move the crowd, not stand on the side when there are no lyrics to sing, and talk to the guy trying to hype up the crowd for you! what the hell was that? anyway I thought I'd share that .

NO Harry, that was when I was calling you at home!..lolol

oih and a new act from Cali, calls himself CHACHO, he will be opening up for Enrique Iglesias. Poor guy came in a cut off t-shirt, talking bout ORALE! it's cold out here!..LMAO he cracked me up!..lolol

I agree w/ you Ny, I tell my artists that I work with all the time, "you can't just get on stage and rap or sing, you have to get the crowd into it." When I first started rapping, I use to watch the crowd's reaction to an artist, and if the crowd was board then the artist wasn't doing their job. But it's tough with opening acts because no one knows them, therefore, they don't get the same respect.

I agree with you there Dave, but to me...that would be an even better reason to have a dynamite stage show to go along with the rappin, singin, or whatever else you're doin up there...not just standin there or ignorin your audience. :lol

Naya! You would have flipped at Mickey's party...that's all I'm sayin! LMAO!

i agree.
not that i am in front of that large of a crowd but i am in a offbroadway acting group. when i get up on stage i am very concious of relating to the audience. i always have a solo dance routine # where i get the audience pumped up. i add a lot of comedy to my performance. i will say it takes alot of guts to even go on stage. i never get stage fright though. maybe thats what happened. it can really mess u up. practice is key, so i always practice in front of people. when u can laugh at yourself it's less of a blow if someone laughs at you.

thats why i admire someone like judy torres every time i seen her this year she has this energy and always gets the crowd into it tka also does it as well in the dance area reinas dosnt move around but she does talk to the crowd and ver singing kind of makes up for it

Great thoughts Naya...I remember back in the day, we managed The Voice in fashion,Paris by Air, 1st Impression,Expose and others..These acts spent sooo much time working on their stage shows!!! I think a large part of it was also the competition in Miami. So many other groups: teaze2pleaze,Will to power, Company B,etc..It was a matter of Pride to have a great show, nowadays, too many new acts think they are "stars" and don't put enough into their performance, as if they are doing the people a favor by being there!

it leaves a bad impression- and to hear it from Naya herself.....it's a thing....on their end, a bad thing.

I'd hate to be on stage and hear **crickets**- or worse!!! people talkin during my performance...

thats one thing i can say about the 80's hair bands
think i saw almost all of them live at least once and
never did i ever see one have a bad concert always put 100% steve vai once mentioned the reason he always tried to do right by the fans was he remembered what it was like to be in the audience of a performers who he felt took the fans for granted

YES NAYA!

Many artists do need to work on their Stage Shows!
I hate to keep mentioning it, but they NEED to take cue from some of the DRAG SHOWS in South Florida & NYC.
They go ALL-OUT!!!

I mean,
1. Hott custom outfits
2. Awesome back-up dancers
3. LOTS of practice & off-da-hook choreography!
4. Great stage prescence, stage pyro-technics, confetti explosions, & on-point lighting.
...It's like a pumping LIVE concert
EVERY WEEKEND!!!
& They work very hard, & the club managers are VERY strict with them!
I've been there, even as a dancer.

By the way NAYA, when are we gonna chill?? Let me know when we can on a Friday, so we can go to "The Coliseum" in Ft. Lauderdale. You might bump into some old friends.
If ur interested, check out ALL the kool show & crowd photos they have up at:
