Well, the shuttle was launched into space, and the news is showing that when it was taking of, debris was falling off of the shuttle, and flying into the wings.

This is believed to be what caused the last shuttle to burn up during re-entry last time, killing all the astronauts on board.

A nasa rep was on the news this morning, saying "We thought the problems had be rectified, and it was safe to send the shuttle up. We were wrong."

They all better be down on thier knees, praying those astronauts get home safely.

Well Mike they didn't KNOW ish was gonna fall off otherwise I'm sure they wouldn't have even attempted a lift off. They caught the stuff falling off ON FILM as the shuttle was already in the middle of lift off. At that point it's a little to late to turn around. It's not a car afterall.

And Chuck? The last shuttle had damage to the wing from the falling debris which is what actually caused the accident. They have checked this shuttle out and there's no damage to the visible eye from this incident so all should be well but I will keep them all in my prayers.

Hmmm, this is scary...GOD Bless them & guide them home safely.

This is what happens when a mission is HALF ARSED planned. And the Crew was skeptic so to say about this flight.

I think NASA is headed in the wrong direction. I think if it was Privatized, or funded by larger corperation as opposed to our Govt., they might get better results.

Krystal, my point is that when the last shuttle met with disaster, Nasa stated that the wing was damaged by debris falling from the shuttle. There were problems with this flight, and then they let it go up anyway. What happens? Debris falls from the shuttle. Just because there is no damage the visible eye, doesn't mean that no damage occured.

I'm not a "rocket scientist" 🙂lol) but I would assume that even if hairline fractures occured to the wing or ship's hull, re-entry tempatures could be an issue for the safety of the astronauts.

i always thought. that nasa at this point might be better of privatized? get more qualified people on the ground working on the thing.

and prob get more money coming. i always thought theres bunch of drug attics lloll working in the blue callor trades. in the cape.

i think nasa is ok at the top and the middle. but the bottom needs help.

anyway i think its better private at this point.

How many billions are spent on the space program? And, for what? I'm sure the money could be better spent on oh, let's see... education programs for our youth perhaps? AIDS research? If we sent HALF the money we spend on NASA to Africa, imagine what better shape they'd be in...

This was a "rushed" launch.. I would've NOT been on that shuttle if I were one of the astronauts.. Geez.. u know what NASA stands for right? "Need Another Seven Astronauts" 🙁 I know that was bad.. but seriously.. would you be wanting to ride back on that thing after knowing there was some debris coming off?? 😱 :nono

No, I wouldn't. I wonder, if an astronaut refuses to get into the shuttle for a launch, what would happen???

I guess they will just loose their job or something, but I believe that they went up because they were sure it's safe and they probably are. Lets just pray for they safe return.

Watching those launches always makes me nervous. I know I shouldnt think like that but I am always afraid somehting bad is gonna happen. I hope this crew gets home safely.

Thats some scary shit son..to go up the sky and to know something went wrong 🙁 I sure hope they land down safely...I really feel they should not try to rush things either and take their time.

Well, according to the paper yesterday, the image on the screen of the debris falling off makes it look small.

It actually was the size of a large duffle bag. They also say that some of the tiles may be damaged.

pieces falling off the shuttle? WTF!

i couldn't agree more. come on the space age is over this isn't the cold war anymore. the country really needs to prioritize, if we can't manage our own earth why should we try to manage outer space.

Today they said that the debris didn't really seem to do any damage.. So.. let's pray for these guys to make it home safe when they are ready to come back..

Well the arrival has been delayed due to bad weather
