silly question needs serious answers

ok..i know this is like one of those silly questions where i asked when i was ..well..geeh old enough lol..but i'm still asking it over and over again...just when i think i've figured things out...i'm left more confused than when i started...here's my question... How do/can you guys tell when a girl likes you...do you look for signs, if so what are these signs? (And I don't mean the obvious signs...just the ones you really have to look for...or do you only look for the obvious signs??? LOL)

I remember a girl named Sue who was stuck on me many years ago.

She was being picked on by my younger brother's friends. I told them to knock it off, and she developed a crush on me.

She always wanted to hang out around me, would want to dance with me at parties, sit next to me when "the group" would get together to hang out. One time, we were talking about music, and I mentioned my favorite song at the time was "I Wonder If I Take You Home" and she says...."I love that song!!!" and she starts to sing it, changing the words to "I wonder if you take me home".

I would always blow her off, and while I wasn't rude to her, I wasn't as friendly as I could've been. I was WAYYYYYYYYYY back in the closet, and bitter about it, and didn't know who to handle this situation. I feel badly about it now.
