Should We Change The Name Freestyle?

I think that Freestyle should change it's name. If you was to ask anyone in the streets what's Freestyle, they'll think of only rap. I was speaking to TyBless about this and he was telling that and I agree with him. Then again we cant call it Latin Hip-Hop cuz there's artist that's not Latin that sing Freestyle. We should change the name because it's known as a sub-culture, and having a new term for our genre, and many new artist coming out we'll be back in effect. I think I need some opinions on this what yall think?

PS Also let's write about how can expand Freestyle rather than discuss why it calmed since 92, personal opinion, progress the sound, have a up to date look(not that it's a problem, cuz most artist still got it), and as CF members, help give out flyers, posters, etc

Shout out 2:TKA, Peach, Tybless, Joey Kidd, Cynthia, and Safire, it was a blessing to meet yall in Blis

A name change is not very easy. Think of the hundreds of CD's already labeled such...all the concerts we know of that have that signiture attached to it....etc etc. Having a few people at one site agreeing to change it wouldn't be enough. So, good idea or not, it's not very realistic in my opinion. It's an interesting thought though. Just to add one more thing, IF it were to ever change somehow, I would prefer a name such as Heart Throb, Old School Club, etc...as opposed to Latin Hip Hop for a number of reasons, one of which you already stated. That would still confuse people.

Anthony, he didnt mean it that way. he meant calling the "new music" that will come out with a new name, leaving the old "freestyle" name alone. like people calling "RAP" on the 80's with the name "HIP-HOP" now. He didnt mean changing the whole genre. whats in the past is in the past. like KAYEL says "WHAT IS IS". NEW NAME FOR NEW TIMES.
 
TTHAT'S an idea I like alot! You know me, and you know I think of the new school as dufferent, so I like that alot. How can we put that into motion?? lol

That is a good idea so us Freestyle purists could easily indentify releases that are considered to be the "New Style" and leave it alone!!!
 
I have one of the FRESTYLE HEAVEN CDs (the one with the blue cover) and in my opinion, most of the stuff on it is CRAP!!!
 
I agree with MyBabyGS3, freestyle will be freestyle. who cares about rap anyway! i like rap and all but freestyle IS NOT rap!

I really love the name freestyle, but reality is that the name has taken it's own course with hip hop. Not to long ago, i did a show in cali, and over there they call it, HIGH ENERGY MUSIC. NOT BAD I GUESS... I think we have a new generation loving freestyle and indeed it needs a new name. No matter what we call freestyle, it will always be freestyle regardless....Just my opinion. For starters one thing I have always disliked are people using the term "Freestyle" in their name, you know who I mean? If you're good there's no need to mention the word at all.
I am however for changing the name of any "New" music that is being released simply because most of it is NOT Freestyle anyway! I said it once and I'll say it again, Freestyle has a defining sound anything else in my opinion is not Freestyle. Classical is Classical, Rock is Rock... the same holds true with Freestyle.
Football, you say people think of rap, keep in mind our FREESTYLE MUSIC was labeled as such long before this "RaP' you mentioned was called that. It also depends where and who those people are.In my old stompin' grounds and where I live now people know what "FREESTYLE" is!! Rap is the furthest from their mind.
If anyone wants to change the name of True Freestyle jamz whether Old or New then that tells me two things. 1.They didn't live the Freestyle era
2.They have too much time on their hands.Try a cross word puzzle.

Freestyle will always be Freestyle, I don't think the name should be changed.
