Possibly. My parents were into all that stuff.

I'm trying to find an album, Loleatta Holloway's Greatest Hits. Has anyone heard the track "The Greatest Performance Of My Life"? That shit is sooooooooooooo hot, it gives me chills.

Also, taking into consideration that this track is an import, came out in 1979, and was the shit back in the Paradise Garage day's with Larry Levan and others.

SalSoul was the birth of the New York City underground club culture.

Salsoul records was one of the most important labels during disco.
The name itself reflects the musical structure of disco, when you combined latin and black musical elements. alot of the instrument players that played for disco bands where also in salsa bands. (alot of people dont know that). It was also the label that always opted to the gay undergound before anyone, which is why they also have the rainbow on the logo.

To find an original of loletha holloways album, (sucking my lip) i have to ask around.

But i LOVE THA SONG. THATS an ANTHEM in my book.

(never thought anyone else would recall that song.)( by the way, im not that old illbe 28 in sept).

you know, how it starts all slow, with the dramatic piano keys.
she bust out with "TONIGHT.........ill play the greatest...performance.....of my LIFE....."
man so much pain so much drama.
and YOU KNOW what its like to PERFORM in front of others. smile while you are dying inside.

but i think that song had double meaning, you know.

and you would shoot me to know that i was at one time dumb and threw out that record many years ago. but then someone gave me a couple of years later a re-release triple vinyle pack of salsoul records..like an anivarsery thing...and i was given the long extended version of that song.
i still have it and play it in mint condition.

and i love how loletha is just as c**t as she comes out in "crash goese love" (oh honey you know your making me feel GOOOOOOD INSIDE!
Filling me, FILLLING ME WITH DESIRE!!!!!

ill ask around and see what i come up with.

I doubt there is a website. If there ever even was.

You can still get the "Magic Journey" pretty much anywhere. That's the classic joint that's got "Guantanamera" & "Runaway" on it. My momz was into them too. I'm trying to convince her to give me all her old vinyl. Salsoul Orchestra, The Crusaders ("Street Life"), Manu DiBango ("Soul Makossa"), MFSB/3 Degrees ("Love Is The Message"), Roy Ayers ("Running Away"), all that good stuff!

That Disco-Jazz era was off the hook! That was like the very beginning of house music.

I'm happy to see that someone shares the same enthusiasm as I do when it comes to music, especially this amazing track. Unfortunatly, I was doing a search on Kazaa a few months back and stumbled upon "Greatest Performance" and I immediately was drawn to it after a few times listening to it back to back.

I'm 26, so I know what you mean. I was always the one digging in my dads vinyl collection and I always tell him, "Pa, when you die, I want all of your records and CD's!" One of the greatest things to come out of that was being exposed to all of the classics, and SalSoul was the beginning of everything. I was finally able to locate the SalSoul Symphony Orchestra Christmas album on CD, which my pops has on vinyl. Love it.

I never really made the connection with the "rainbow" to the Gay community, but your right, bro. Prop's to SalSoul.

I did a search on various websites regarding all albums with the "Greatest Performance" and let me tell you, they are rare. It seems like all of the imports have that single, and the ones that were released in America don't have it. Japan released a 2002 Greatest Hits album with over 15 tracks and it's on there. It does't make any sense. If you come across the album, let me know and I'll send you something.

As for Ms. Holloway bein' c**t- that's some wild shit right there.

MarkLuvzCynthia- Beginning of the House-era indeed.
