SHANNON very FIRST SHOW was for me at skate fever in 1983 -- and i have the photo
i booked her before it was a hit -- THATS what i was about -- break careers and give kids opportunities
and u were one of those kids
why i took the chance with nayobes song
15 year old singer --18 year old writer -- both never been in a studio before
my partner said i was crazy
but i knew nayobes song was gonna start a movement
and being one of the pionoeers of hip hop -- i knew it --
it was Latin hip hop for me
when i heard this 4 track demo with Andy singing on it
i also knew i had the singer for this song
who lived around the corner from skate fever
where ironically Shannon did her first show
2 teenage Latinos
and then i a made a club around the sound
just like i did with hip hop at the fever nightclub in the Bronx
but one more piec to the puzzle
who was gonna be my grandmaster flash
i went looking in the Bronx
i saw him at a street party
little Louie VEGA
the devils nest -- Louie -- Andy -- nayobe
and freestyle was born
in the Bronx where it started where it belongs
