When songs were made back in the day what were the dominant synths used? Or were they using true instruments?

When I listen to George Lamond's "Withou You" I hear strings, bass, drums, perc, etc. Just wondering how were most of the songs produced.

during the late early 80' to 90's probaly yammaha and rolands akai had that s900 sampler need to ask if any freestyle producers played with any synclaviers or fairlights workstations

Back Then, The Industry Standard Was Roland

Dang lost this link thank god for the emails.

Anyway I got lyrics that are awaiting for music to be put to them. And was wondering what were the key instruments because I got sample cd/Sounfonts for recreating those vintage sounds and wanted to know what I needed to come to that Old school sound. I got the drums with out a problem. Just wanted to know what would be in a micmac or a cutting records studio. Just a kit?

Chris Barbosa used many great classic keyboards. Chris is a true "Lengend" in freestyle. He took is time on a song but the song was PERFECT.. Go back and listen to his productions and your here great sounds coming from all directions.. Back in the DJ days, Chris and I were in the same record pool.

Chris, hands down is one of frestyle best producers..

Chris is my boy, and I second that motion that he is truly one of the best producers of freestyle.
