I Know This Is A FreeStyle Talk Thread But To Me In My Eyes Paula Abdul Was As Close As They Get To A FreeStyle Singer...I Loved Her Music And I Am Just Wondering If She Will Ever Produce Any More Music Her Music I Loved When I Was Little 🙁 I Miss It So Much 🙁

what is her nationality
I know she's a mix of at least three ethnecities-brazilian, syrian, ?
I have noticed that alot of the people who listen to freestyle, listened to her music back then too.I always felt that Paula will do ok, if she released a new album and capitalized on american idol.
Jennifer Lopez is the new Paula Abdul of today. Both her and Jennifer are excellent dancers and both are not the greatest vocalists, but are good singers and sing with emotion.
Although, jennifer also acts, has her clothing line, restaurant,etc..etc...this girl is busy 24/7.

i would never compare Paula to Jennifer dancing wise. Cmon Paula had choreographed Janet Jackson. Did anyone ever see the video for "Knocked Out" (one of my all time favs) it was a very cheesy video but the choreography was amazing the formations and the energy was amazing....and then they were tossing her in the air OMIGOODNESS!!! that video still give me chills next to "Cold Hearted Snake". BTW did anyone ever notice at Aaliyah knocked off one of Paula's dance moves in the "Are U That Somebody" video, think "Crazy Cool".... it would be hot to hear Paula on a a crunk r&b record lol she could still pull it off!!! :1luv

alot of Artist used Freestyle Producers and Music back in the 80's
Vanessa Williams has a Hot freestyle SOng onher first CD Produced by Expos'e Luis Martinee called I'LL be the One.....alot of artist followed the trend but i live for the New York ans Miami Sound........

Paula was the Bomb still love her First CD........

Jon Lopez

It's amazing she never did anything freestyle. She is incredibly talented and would have done well. She had great cross over appeal. And I believe the third ethnicity Frankie was looking for is Greek.

I loved Paula back in the days also. I think she was one of the artists who "bridges" eras. She came out as freestyle was on the decline, and led the way to the "crossover form of freesyle". With that term I mean the Brintney Spears', Christina Aguilera's, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC. Which I consider the new freestyle, cuz it borrows our beats, synths, and vocals. Its very cleaned up and misses that produced in the basement feel. This difference is not as great as it may seem.

Paula is one of my all-time favorite artists!!!!!

I read that she is recording with Randy Jackson of AI to make a come-back. She's been working on new music for a long time but nothing took off. After her deal with Virgin fell apart in 1996, she was signed to Mercury Records in 1997 but they dropped her without even releasing anything. One of the songs that Paula wrote during that time, "Spinning Around," was given to Kylie Minogue and she made it a smash #1 hit overseas in 2000.

I can't wait til she releases another album! We love you Paula!!!

WOW THANKS FOR THE INFO EVERYONE ESP MARK I REALLY APRECIATE IT Speed !!!!!!!!!

WE LOVE U PAULA !!!!!!!

There are many, many things wrong with this post. Sorry Wiz, but Paula came out in 1988. Correct me if I'm wrong, but at that time Freestyle was picking up major momentum. That is when you had the crossover success of Safire, Sweet Sensation and the Cover Girls. I, as a Freestyle listener, am offended that you consider Britney, Christina, BSB, and NSync as Freestyle. This is not a new form of Freestyle in any way. If anything, it's a newer, fresh form of teen pop. Definitely NOT Freestyle! I cringed a little bit when other posts said Paula was Freestyle, but I let it go since I used to love Paula back in the day. I'm getting tired of reading posts where people are saying "oh they're Freestyle" (i.e. the Milli Vanilli post....I'm still trying to cope with that). Please guys, brush up on your "knowledge" before insulting the sacredness that is Freestyle.

Ok I Figured I'd Get One Of These. I Don't Know What Year Paula Came Out, You Say 1988 Then Thats Fine With Me. As Far As Britney & Co. Not Being A New Form Of Freestyle, It Surely Is. Listen To The Following Reasons Why I Say This.

First Off When Did You Ever Hear Middle America Grooving To The Beats The Are Using? (they're The Same Ones We Use, Just Very "produced" Or Cleaned Up). They Use Similar Keyboard Sounds (again Just Cleaned Up & Over Produced).

When Did They Started Doing Remixes Using Rappers (not Including Blondie).

I've Been A D.j For Over 20yrs, I've Been Listening To Freestyle Since The Begginnig. I've Always Been Proud Of It Being "our" Music (ours Meaning Latinos). I Dislike The Fact That Our Sound Has Been Borrowed Or Stolen. I Love The Produced In Your Basement Sound Freestyle Had, It's What Made It Great.

That Being Said, Sorry If You Are Offended, But The Facts Are The Facts. I Lived Old-school Freestyle, You're Only 26y/o. You Missed Out On Red Hott By Trilogy, Or One Way Love By Tka, When They Came Out. All The Freestyle Compilations In The World Won't Give You The Feeling Us Old Schoolers Had, Hearing Those Songs Being Played In The Clubs. So Again I'm Sorry If You Were Offended, My Statements Weren't Made To Offend. They Were Just Pointing Out A Progression Our Music Has Made. Whether You Agree With It Or Not, Thats On You. They Are Similarities That I've Noticed And If You Listen Closely You May Hear Them Also

Paula Abdul's song "Straight Up" is a freestyle song and if that same song was done by Cynthia, Safire, or any other female freestyle singer it would be herelded as a freestyle song but since Paula isnt a freestyle artist and did not do freestyle music exculsivly the song is on the fence as freestyle or not. I agree somewhat with cutwizardjay the pop music of britney,nsync,bsb,etc...does have freestyle elements...listen to nsync-tearing up my heart and i want you back... it is not the new freestyle or the evolution of freestyle it just have elements. C mon give more credit to the freestyle producers of today and back in the day for creating something unique. One more point just because chicagoboy is 26 and im 18 shouldnt make what you say the final word on freestyle. Yeah you lived through the golden age of freestyle but dont give us because im older what I say is word. Are you crazy Red Hott By Trilogy, Or One Way Love By Tka didnt just go away those songs are just as good now as they were yesterday...yeah its not the same as hearing it when it first came out but we still feel the same joy and excitement as you did back in the day.
