Of course we all love our Freestyle, but in what way do you like yours?
Do you like the original 7" / album versions or do you like the 12" / extended remix versions? Hmmm.

I personally love the 12" mixes of SWEET SENSATION and TKA
I always found thier 12"ers better than the original versions.

i assume a 7" version is just the radio edit.. in that case i prefer the extended versions. nothing beats those long buildups of those nice old school beats

It actually depends on my mood.

somedays, I like extended mixes. others, the radio edit is what I want to hear.

I mostly like Extended Versions...depends how hot the song is that I want to hear it for long 🙂

I always say 12" is better then 7" on any given day. 12"s of Freestyle that is. LOL

Speaking of the 7'' vs. the 12", has anybody noticed that on most of the songs that came out on the Cutting label, the 7" usually has a different beat, sounds a little less "hard" and has more of a "pop" edge. Take any song by Safire, Coro, Corina, Yvonne Deleon, etc... and note how the 7" was usually always produced differently to give it more of a "radio friendly" pop feel- best example- "Boy I've Been Told"- the radio edit has a straight 4 on the floor beat, versus the traditional syncopated freestyle beat on the 12". It holds true for most of the songs in the Cutting catalogue.

Also, most of the time the radio edits don't have the multi-edits that the club mixes have (again, to make it more "radio friendly")- although MicMac records usually have a "freestyle radio mix" and a "pop radio mix", with the freestyle radio mix keeping the multis and the pop omitting them.

I have gone through HUNDREDS of 12" singles adding music to my online station (cheap plug www.hot96.net ) and I love the 12" remixes..I have been taking the 12" versions of songs and cutting them down to just under 5 min; usually just trimming the lead and tail ends to 1 measure instead of 4. The 12" mixes are EXTREMELY better than the radio edits..One song that is much better (even though its not freestyle) is Kim Wilde's "Keep Me Hangin On" The radio/album version has been so played out and is ok, but the 12" mix is more like a freestyle record and just pops! Maybe we should have a list of songs that the 12" mix sounds better than the radio/album mix??

Like Chuck, I like both.
But one track I prefer the Original Extended version is, Expose's "Exposed To Love".
Much better than the radio/album version! 🙂

Good call, think I'll start it 😉

I Gotta Respond To This. The 12"s Were Always Better. They Weren't Always On The Radio So It Was Like A Bonus Getting More Of What You Liked. Many Of Them Started Differently Like My Heart Skips A Beat, Just To Name One.. But Some Of Them Were Just To Long Sayin Sorry Denise Lopez Had A 9 Minute Version That I Did Like, But Some Of The Extended One Were Just Too Boring. I Still Have All My Freestyle 12"s And I Never Will Get Rid Of Them. I Have So Many.

12's are usually better for the most part,... Hmm should I say this the 12" Version of Find Another Puppet,.. Oh my Love it,. Dub Version,. House Version WoW,...Can't forget the Radio Version,.... Look at me I'm Puppet Crazy. Guess you already know dat if ya know me.

Right, last night I was listening to "where are you tonight" by Coro and the radio mix was better than the extended 12" version.

I agree with that one. For me, it just depends. Sometimes I prefer the 12 inch over the 7 inch version, or otherwise. :dancingb
