Opinions: Did Salsa replace Freestyle?

Most Latinos here in the LA area are into Salsa. Quite a few Freestyle artists have crossed over into this realm. Did Salsa fill the void Freestyle left as the genre by Latinos for Latinos? What is everyone's thoughts on this?

(BTW, I don't 100% believe that Freestyle is ONLY by and for Latinos. I love both Freestyle and Salsa/Mambo and I'm Asian. But it is a predominantly Latin niche.)

I am white and I love Freestyle. Of course most of my friends are latino🙂I love salsa too. Don't laugh but I love heavy metal as well, when I say metal I mean 80s metal but current material from these so called 80s hair bands like Dokken, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Great White, Def Leppard, etc etc. lol. Freestyle, of course, is my all time favorite!
