just a cd i got at mickeys birthday party for freestyle!! for free~~(bad boy joe) i like the mix really cool excellent actually but i thiink paradise can make a better one.. still in my opinion the old school is so much better i got so much promotional material and most of the "new school" still playing the "planet rock" backbeat how tired and played out. is that?.i cant even listen to any song once that beat is played..are we going foward or is modern freestyle defined on "planet rock"? planet rock with songs whining about love gone wrong....she left me..tears falling..come on already!! broken hearts and lost loves..theres much more to write about especially more then being played by a girl which correct me if im wrong 90% of freestyle songs are about..dont get me wrong i love my freestyle but i dont feel heartbreak is the only thing to sing about especially to remake and remix and remake and remix again and again!!
 
i guess the love topic is what being play alot these days in most of the songs maybe is bcuz artists feel thats where ppl can relate to most but i get what u sayin mi pana there should be more songs that dont just play that planet rock beat or talk about what he/she did to me in love i guess if u heard one love freestyle song u heard them all i would love to see songs that artist can talk about issues in life general like for example:

legends of freestyle= we are the ones or sweet sensation= love child etc...

songs like these ppl can relate to and think about how the situation began and where it left off nahmean
 
I hear ya Tae......... I'm working on 2 new (progressive) freestyle jams, one remake, one original........ they're both around 130bpm & lemme say it's very tempting to use the planet rock loop just cause it always works & sounds so good.......... but I'm making it a specific point not to use it cause it's so played.......... 🙂

I agree with you on all counts, especially about Paradise, but you have to remmember Freestyle's core is about hardship lovesongs.. That's what people were able to relate to back in the day of it's peak.. so I guess everyone is scared to turn away from this out of frear some won't concider it freestyle or should I say recognize it. that why i think there are so many die hard old school fans. Times change and so should the music.. planet rock was cool, but com'on let it rest there are other song and beats, artist and producers should be willing to take more risks... or should I say the finacial backer need to trust the people making the music,..OOP'S DID I SAY THAT OUT LOUD. :shush

Thats why HIP-HOP is so successful: It has not boundries!

Why not make LATIN HIP-HOP the same? Come on people, we are the ones that are holding freestyle back. We want LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Lets get into other things in life. I dont think I know any type of music that focuses on one thing only except for freestyle.

Thats why I think it's so important for Artist & Producers to step away from what's safe and try different sound and expresstion.

I totally agree..... altho if u stray too far..... it might not be considered freestyle anymore to some...... so it's a fine line...... different sound & expressions are fine but there has to be some sorta glue

I have to say I am also tired of Planet Rock backbeat songs! As for the love song/heartbreak theme... I don't know! I don't like gangsta rap with all the talk about the drugs, money, violence, pain, and poverty! Those themes are what make rap... well rap!

I am proud that freestyle can be played to any group without offending them with talk of beating women, shooting homies, getting high, or being on the welfare! Take all that away as available subject matter and that narrows the options right back to Love, happiness, family and so on.
 
Actually and speak of rap... Here is at least one rap song with a love theme... Ja Rule "What's Luv"

You guys should take a poll according periods of freestyle and what age you were when it really meant something to you. Alot of the old school jamz were jamz because of our age, we can relate because of the memories it brings back when we hear now. Yeah maybe they can sing about other stuff but what makes some of that stuff great and jamz is being young and listening to it and relating to it. I am not sure I would want to hear about devorce or kids. Isn't first love or that major breakup the bases to all that and isn't that what makes that music so great in the first place.The new stuff doesn't do that cause of how life is for all of us now. So keep that in mind when you guys hear the new stuff,child hood crushes and first lovez are not the same and the music doesn't bring out that emotion any more.Let the oldschool be what it is, childhood, teenage songs that mean something for that time.Listen to it now and enjoy it. Music has changed and moved forward you just might not feel it and thats because we are not in the same place we where when we younger. As for the planet rock beat deal, here in the south and I know in the bay that sound is big, I think its a regional thing. I nkow peeps that listen to the (true) beats and don't like them and think the way you do about planet rock. Just my thoughts, not going to anyone direct. Dj Paradise is the man!!!!!! How can be down??
 
a new format is needed new beats..new subject matter...freeestyle makes it seem were always "phucking up in love" theres nothing wrong with silly love songs (paul mcartney) but to have songs over and over loss love ..broken heart..the bitch left me songs.. umm can someone say change the channel allready? next freestyle artist to use the planet rock back beat should be put on the rack and flayed!!!
 
Freestyle Has Changed It's Format Already....
It Has Evolved Into Rave,triphop,techno, And Whatever Other Genre Of Music Is Sampling It Right Now....because Freestyle Has Become Sampled Music.....we Need To Create From Scratch

i disagree... it hasnt changed from ten years ago its still "planet rock beats with lyrics about loss love" thats a general description of freestyle in my humble opinion..another factor holding back freestyle is "the remake" or remix" can we really swallow another awful helping of a classic rehased ????
