CF's big pro sports fan have a big question for you?.

I know The Giants, Rangers, Yankees, Knicks are 1000 years old. But why is it most New Yorkers support only The Yankees, Giants, Knicks and Rangers; Long Island and Jersey mostly support The devils, Nets(except for Meggy who supports The Knicks), Islanders, Jets, (Queens, The Mets). Why is that!!!?:confused

about the nets the team started on long island
the mets because of the brooklyn connection
islanders are based on long island
the jets do every thing on long island then except play
there games (someday they will do that as well)

LOL

Why waste your time with any other sport? 😉

For the ladies (and certain guys) you have athletics and artistry.

for the rest of the guys, it's sexy girls in short skirts and low cut tops.

lol

If the Devils are so crappy why did they kick Boston's ass and advance to the next round? But anyway.........

I basically just grew up a fan of the teams I like now. Family influence. The year I was born was the year the Devils moved to Jersey from Colorado where they were the Rockies. So there are a lot of people in my family who are Rangers fans (I try not to hold it against them) I guess I support the teams I do cause it's kind of like rooting for the home team. As for the Jets, they need there own satdium. Sorry to all the Jet fans, but it's called GIANTS Stadium, not Giants/Jets Stadium. Then again I have this whole thing on why they should be called the New Jersey Giants, but I'll save my rambling.

Good point Meggy!!! And the deal with The Nets, they are doing something The Knicks aren't; wining!!!! But I still see empty seats in the stands. Will NYC always be a Knicks city no matter what with NJ peeps rooting for them?

I don't know about that one. I mean Devils games get sold out, and last year when the Nets went to the finals, it sold out as well. Me, I'm a Knick fan, but I gotta admit, I would have liked it if the Nets had won last year, or even this year. I'm not going to be one of those people who jumps on a winning team's bandwagon, but if a local team can bring home the championship, then go for it. Still love my Knicks though.

We'll one thing needs to happen to The Knicks, unload all those big salary players like Sprewell and Houston! Thats' the same with The Angels; LA(bad sports town) mostly care for The Dodgers, The Angels was mostly Anehiem. Now they have a bigger audience sincw they won the Crown, but LA is still Dodgers city.

You go Meg... I agree... they play here in NJ, they should be NEW JERSEY teams... but that's just me. :confused

I am a Steeler Fan through and through, but ... (yes, they've been sucking the last two years)... but none the less, I love them. My one brother and my cousin are die hard fans so that is how I was influenced.... Now, I am influencing my kids to be Steeler fans. I do jump on the "local teams" bandwagon when they are winning when it comes to baseball, basketball and hockey... because I really don't follow them that much any more... but I do like the Devils.

My ex is a Boston Red Sox fan so that's what he's introducing to our boys... I gave him baseball, he gave me football (even though he's a steeler fan too).

Did I say enough?

:lol

Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the question; which team do you think completly represent NYC sports period?

Many say The Yankess, others say The Knicks, some Say The Giants.

one word: competition...PEOPLE THRIVE OFF OF HAVING SOMETHING TO CALL THEIR OWN IN ANY TYPE OF COMPETION....WHO KNOWS? (shrugs)

I kind have a feeling that NYC is mostly a Yankees Town. So much talk with New Yorkers are all about The Yanks. The same with Boston being mostly a Red Sox town, and we are a Deadskins town.

DREAMGIRL, Im not trying to comapre ISLANDERS to DEVILS. Im just stating a simple, well known fact......LONG ISLAND hockey fans support THE ISLANDERS, not THE DEVILS.

I dont watch hockey at all but how do the DEVILS rank against THE ISLANDERS?

THE YANKEES, OF COURSE!

BUT IM STILL WONDERING WHY GIANTS STADIUM IS IN JERSEY!

I thought so!!😉

Giants Stadium is in jersey because; during The 70's with the big Surburban boom, sports teams thought they could get a larger fanbasae out of The Burbs by moving their arenas and stadiums there. Now downtown arenas and stadiums are back in style now.

I still love my Giants Stadium and Continental Airlines Arena(previously the Brendan Bryne Arena) and if the deal goes through to move the arena to Newark, I'm gonna cry.

Kenny as for how the Devils and Islanders stack up against one another, I know this season the Devils went undefeated when playing the Islanders this season. Plus Brodeur has one of the top (if not the top) goals against average in the entire NHL. Devils also had one of the best penalty killing units as well.
