Well I don't really think she should be singing freestyle, but I was just curious as to what it was. I would've never guessed Italian. Thanks Kenny! :biggrin
Francis, i thank you for that interview. Without that interview, I would of never been able to meet her and she is such a sweet woman. She taught me alot and she gave me alot of "behind the freestyle" history that is very interesting!
she had told me once she had heard the KTU MORNING SHOW mention her once via a friend. She wanted to call them and let them know she was still around. Although many people do not lik her voice, I give her much credit for having a dream and sticking with it. she was new to the country before signing her first music deal and she didnt know the english langauge very well but she stuck it!
currently, she is a resident DJ in jersey and in the band Francis mentioned above.
damn that was a funky record. one of my faves latin hiphop record...lil louie vega.
"summer time" and "lets go".........at that time high pitched vocals on freestyle and r&b were very popular. In r& b records, peeps like new edition sang like chipmunks and that drove the masses wild.
in freestyle, it was pop to sing with a latin, spanish accented vocal. it was comon and natural in some forms of freestyle and hi nrg records records...amareto's "clave Rocks". "to be gentle with my heart" by natasha "baila bolero" by fun fun."take it while its hot" by sweet sesation. For Real "is it me the one you think of". jellybean feat india "mirage"."the mexican".
it was a pop trend in freestyle.
Nocera captured this in her vocal....alot of people thought she would be spanish, but she is italian, but her vocal on her records reflected what was goingon atthat time...and it was a very latin time back then.
"tym tym sumer tyme take me baby!!"
To us it was a beautiful thing...since it was ours..coming out of our scene. people should never downplay that.
the original sumertime was awsome..and was str8 up latin hiphop...when Corina re did it...it wasnt the same...
it was slowed down, smoothed out...(except the remix, hard to find).
so now that im on the topic of accented vocals, lol
NOW:
i was going to , but i want to make it challenging, to see who can lay for me the chorus of amareto's "clave rocks".
Its very accented and in spanglish...let me see who can do that for me...before i come back and do it proparly and then translate.
who ever is the first one to do it right, ill stick a lil something in the mail for you.

out now "Ill Know How To Love You (im blowing up)".
new release: feb 2003.
Summertime, Summertime was hot down here in Miami when I was in 4th grade. I remember trying to do pull ups in school while that track played. Reminds me of a crush I had, but she went out with the popular boy!!
popular boi in school, oops, that would be me...sorry.
on behalph of all the pop bois to guys like you, lol.
ya! ok, like i was saying.......
for those of you interested in the "clave rocks", since i guesse nobody wanted to answer, since no one knew...(SHAME!!!!).lol
"Follow la clave, ay papi.
you feel it, you want it
so toca me let the clave reach your soul, clave.
Follow la clave, ay papi!
you need it, you like it,
so goza me ,let the clave make you whole
CLAVE ROCKS.
hotcha hot cha cha! hotcha hot cha cha!!!
ay ay ,ay papi!
ay ay ay , ay papi!
"COME,
feel the rhythm rising through me, it wont stop.
Its a ryhthm that should make your body hop.
get a lil closer to me,sence the power,
all the majic all the love about to ..
...come, touch me, hold me, kiss me, take me, dont let go
and well make the passion of the moment grow
feel the sweat, the heat, the body, im on fire!
feel the drum and rythm of desiIIIRE,
makes you feel so real..
thats how love should feel.
(for you old skool purist, cuz you know it would nt be complete!!)
ladies and gents..this was the sole fusion of what freestyle/hearthrob once was.
you can just sweetly hear the horns of sandee's "your the one(my heart beats for) fading in from the back ground.
it was records like these that captured the whole groove, the movement, the life.
as for the translation of the "calve rocks:
Follow the clave,
you feel it, you want it
so touch me let the clave reach your soul.
follow the clave, you, need it you like it
so enjoy me and letthe clave make you whole."
this like many freestyle classics talked and expressed the passion felt within the music. the richness, the lust in every rythm, every beat, every word. it was talking about hearthrob....latin lovers in the house!
very duferent from records to come after that were trying to capture the genre....ex: johnny o's "freestyle".
"latin love you make me hot, give me all the love you got......."
man, and there is nothing in the world like these records.
you know what i mean!
just another reason to
"LET YOUR BODY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I've met Nocera, too and she is quite nice. Just a sweet woman and I've also heard her music with Voice of the Satellites. It's VERY good and in the same style as Morcheeba and EBTG. They have some stuff up on MP3.com, so check it out.
