I may get alot of hate mail for this I think it needs to be said. New Skool "artist" lack what is needed for a song to really take off.

Most of these cats lack Talent(Sorry I Said it, but it's true).

I found a new friend who has been trying to convince me that new skool is just as good as Old Skool and has been bringging me cd's from some today's "artist" and I just cant get in to them.

Im not saying all old skool artists are talented cause if they were we'd still hear from them today, but it seems to me that today's are the product of a "get-rich-quick-sceem" carried on by some jackass record industry. No Talent in singing, No Talent in the studio mixing, No Talent in writting music and lets not forget the beats brought to you cortesy of Afrikka Bambatta's broken Casio Keyboard.

Sorry to say but Freestyle has taken a turn for the worse. I was listening to Bad Boy Joe's 3rd Compilation. The first disc was off the hook, dat shit is my joint, but the second disc was like:crap what the... I do think, however, Synthia Figueroa was actually pretty good but if she were in the hands of some one like K7, George LaMond, or Tony Moran she'd be the next Safire(who I'd love to marry if givin the chance).

Does any one agree? or am I just stuck in the 80's?

Ok no doubt the 80s stuff is the best but here in Canada we got amazing talent...Freda, Marilyn Dia and Dimi have a style that is very similar to that of the 80s artists...Joee is very talented his new song sounds like the older stuff but even his other stuff is amazing...Alexia Phillips ain't that new anymore but her late 90s stuff if amazing...Zoe a fairly new artist is building a lot of hype for her material cuz the beats and melodys of her songs are amazing...and as for american talent I think Synthia Figueroa has talent as does Nick Colon and Sharen Macern...I havent heard any of the others but these three are talented...just because they sound different music has evolved...you think think the hip hop now sounds like the hip hop from the late 80s early 90s that brought hip hop to where it is now...go take a listen the beats, the production and yes the vocalists are TOTALLY DIFFERENT then today's stuff...the same goes for any other genre...some of the orignal freestyle is almost 20yrs old there is no way the music today can and will sound like that...so to say the artists today are untalented is very biad in my opinion

HEY !!!!!!!!!!

HEY IM NOT JUDGING YOU OR ANYONE....
BUT TO EACH ITS OWN....................
IM FEELING ALOT OF THE NEW SKOOL ARTISTS.......AND WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THEM...........MUAHZZZZZ TO ALL........ AND UMMMMMMM......... FREESTYLE IS BEING HEARD AGAIN.... 😉 :yeey :shakinboo :dancingb

There is nothing like old school. Old school freestyle is great, but from listening to new school they are doing a great job as well. They show there hard work in there music because I enjoy as well as I do the old school. So new school freestyle artists keep up the great work. And you know I got your backs in promoting you guys as well as my old school peeps.

There is a handful of good new school. But old school is the best! Or new school from an old school artist (same difference right lol).

Synthia Figueroa has a good voice but she got bad production (w/the exception of "You Were Meant..."). If she got some better tracks she could be hot. Ashley & Nick Colon give some of the "old school" quality that the artists had back in the day. That's all I can think of though.
:confused

So am I right?

I think you are right Dj Prime Cuts
to me most of the new school is just sick and should ahve never been done.
with a few of the above named exceptions of course(eg. synthia figueroa)
just my opinion🙂

I'll say this though. I HAVE been trying to listen to it past the breakdown and give the record za chance but damn most of these people just can't harmonize. I dont want to mention names so as to not offend, but damn these record producers are doin these kids an injustice. American Idol will have kicked off during auditions if they came in there with this kind of stuff.

Great. These are some of the issues that we can discuss in the Freestyle Music Conference. This is definitely an interesting topic.

Peace,
Manny

In my opinion,
The first problem is we continue to divide Freestyle.
Come on people Freestyle is Freestyle NEW or OLD. Rather than address it as new or old why not address Freestyle in General. Remember Freestyle critics don't care about new or old They Criticize our music as a whole let's not give them another angle to attack!:angered

As far as the quality of music goes,
I don't remember any artist nailing every song they came out with, we just have to take the good with the bad... hopefully more good.
Hell if we abandoned what we like just cause a couple of bad songs Damn every artist would be out of business.

Dj Prime cuts ;

Everyone is entitled to their opinions . I wonder if your even a dj , or someone trying to stir up the negative side of thinks.

Badboy Joe 3 has a few good tracks I actually like Synthia Figueroa , Nick Colon and Ashley for the new School .

Old school has better productions but cmon have of those artist couldnt sing either.

Yo CutZ..hate mail?? :lol not from me you ain't. You're not the only one stuck in the 80's.I think the old school artist's were more talented cause they sure as shit sound better!!I just can't get into most of the new shit either. A get rich quick scheme it is, that's why the stuff is rushed and the final product is lousy. However it seems to me that producers may also be running out of ideas musically and does not necessarily mean they are not talented.
I may be the one to get hate mail for saying this but "IT"s OVER!!"
Those days are gone and New schoolers are picking up the crumbs trying to make a cake again. There are those special few recent jamz that I do like but they are far and few between. In the words of K7 "Destroy and Rebuild" They should just call it something else.
:blah to all who oppose

I agree with dj primecuts to a certain extent. Old shcool will always be the best freestyle had to offer. I have not heard much of the new school freestyle, but what I have heard from the new school groups have not impressed me. Rockel seems to be my favorite so far out of the new school artist, but she's been around for a while.

I'll keep listnenig to new school, hoepfullu they can find there niche.

lmao@betty

What I'm saying is even Rap & Hip/Hop has changed it's sound over the years but it's still called Rap & Hip/Hop.

I love the Freestyle of old Hell, I was there in the 80's Dancin my ass off at the clubs, But let's face it times have changed and I hate to Freestyle in general be punish for not being able to keep up.
If there are some bad seeds ok weed them out don't punish the Freestyle genre.
