Oh well, so much for Freestyle Thursdays at Poor Billys. They just called me saying that "Freestyle doesn't work no more" and that they are moving to a different format and I won't be dj'in there no longer.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported...but as usual, there just wasn't enough support for freestyle

Maybe you can get a gig in a NY club. Freestyle seems to be doing good here as DNA has Freestyle Fridays & Breffini has Freestyle Saturdays.

I hope to catch you spinning in a club soon!

Well Dayer, I really don't dj that many clubs no more. I took the Poor Billys club because I really thought it was a good oppurtunity. Its a very successful club (obviously not on Thursdays)lol, and they were advertising on KTU. Plus I thought with the popularity of this website, I could get alot of people in the club. But only about 10 people from Clubfreestyle showed up a night, except when Judy performed. ( i totally understand its a thursday night and people don't live near the club). Plus, they really didn't advertise Thursdays on KTU that much. The club did absolutely no promotions for Freestyle Thursdays at all. They didn't even have flyers. lol. They basically depended soley on me to pack the place. No promoters, no radio support, nada.

Being a KTU DJ kinda works against my advantage. Believe it or not, a few ktu dj's can't even find a club to hire them. Lots of clubs think they can hire a ktu dj like me and the club will go from 20 peeps a night to 500 in 2 weeks. It just doesn't work that way. It takes more than just a dj.

The club did grow in size every week. Before I started, they had 15 people a night there on Thursdays. It grew to about 120 a night while I was there. But for a club that large, its not worth their money to pay what they were paying me when they can pay any dj $100 to do the same thing I was doing.

But thanks again to everyone who did come out and support. Especially Nyasia, Freestyle racer (Jimmy) and Spiral who were there every single week. You guys live an hour away and I really appreciate your support ! Thank u !
 
Jack-Breffini is in Queens off of Queens BLvd at around 41st or so. Its a decent sized club & they just started Freestyle Saturdays this past month.

Johnny-Sorry you did not get the support to keep freestyle thursdays. I was only able to make it twice & one of those times it was closed for snow 🙁 I really wish I could have been there more than just for Judy's show.

I agree with Jack, its their loss. Don't worry Johnny, your the best! Hell if I have to rent a warehouse & hire you on weekends so be it hehe The summer is made for parties!
 
UM......DAYER....IN CASE YOU HAVENT NOTICED, CLUB DNA ONLY SPINS FREESTYLE FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR TO AN HOUR, AND THAT IS WHEN THERE IS A FREESTYLE ACT PERFROMING. GO THIS FRIDAY AND I GUARANTEE YOU THERE WONT BE ANY FREESTYLE THERE.

Really? Hmm weird about 6 people told me that friday was "freestyle friday" there. I haven't gone yet, I was just assuming that my friends were telling the truth but I guess there were smoking something 😉

My freindz & I really don't like going to place we not too sure of. I don't even go to Queens for showz!
Az much az I'd like to, we're a little uncomfortable, plus it'z hard to get to theze placez.

Anywhere in Manhattan iz usually a safe bet with people.

i am totally mad at the news!!! i was going every week along w/adam aka nich 240. that really sucks that my hang out did that to you. i am not gonna frequent that place too much any more. they should have been glad you were bringing in people. last week was a pretty decent crowd. well i hope you find somewhere else close by. i am gonna miss hanging w/you,nyasia,freestyleracer,spiral and chuckd.

I can't believe that Poor Billy's dropped you (and us) like that. The times I was there, you rocked!!!

What happened to the freestyle crowd? I can remember seeing dance floors packed when Freestyle came on.

Now I go to Backdrafts for Freestyle Friday and hip-hop plays and the floor is packed, and then freestyle comes on and the floor empties out. The DJ put on "There Goes Your Heart" and the only ones on the floor were me and Rosie (Spiral's Friend).

Keep the faith, Johnny! You play an important role in the life of freestyle now. And we got your back!

Maybe we need to throw our own party. Find a club that will sponsor a "Clubfreestyle.com" night. Get some acts lined up (I'm sure Nyasia, Nelson "FFWD" Cruz, CJay, Cynthia, Synthia Figueroa would be willing), promote it on KTU, and use the night to boost membership to this site.

Maybe we need an agenda. Every Sunday during chat, we should decide on a new song that KTU should add, and bombard the station with requests. Once it's on rotation, pick a new song. I know it may not help, but it couldn't hurt.
 
What really sucks is....i had George Lamond and Cynthia lined up to perform on seperate nights....AND Nyasia...I got all these acts that'll work with me...and no where to go now....lol
