Longtime people. Hope everyone is well. It's been sometime since I've been here as I've been very busy with various projects. Anyhow, I have to tell you that I've checked out a bunch of the "Download my music" links here and I have to tell you, most of the songs SUCK! Now, I'm not the best producer, by no means... and I may not have had the best vocalists on my label, but c'mon people. This is why the music is dead. The songs ****in' suck! The singers mostly suck, the music is ultra cheese-oid and I can't believe that people will post "hey great song, good luck!" or "you'll have much success in the music business". Shit, I would rather hear a record by William Hung, or whatever that quacks name is from American Idol who thinks he can sing like Ricky Martin.

Maybe I shouldn't be so harsh. Maybe people don't want to hear the truth. The truth is what I used to write back in the old Miami Hot Traxx days, the old DMA days, etc... The labels, artist, producers loved what I wrote, as long as it was 1) not about them or 2) promoting their material.

Let me close with this... I heard more trash than decent stuff. I did hear some promise in some of the songs I checked out. I just wish I could get back the 30 minutes of my life of listening to the bad stuff I sat through (and that was only like 15 - 30 snipets).

I'm not anti-freestyle... just anti-bad-freestyle!

Steve "Mr. Miami"

Every genre of music has it's bad and it's good music. Freestyle is no execption.

It's a matter of opinion a lot of times. Unless it's obviously bad (like William Hung) it's subjective. What you may hate, I may love. It's a matter of taste.

I've been banging "Banging Beats-Vol. 2" in my Tracker, I love the new school cd, as well as the old school. the music by Nyasia, Iris, Nu Image, Ayna, Ashely, Asha, makes me move.

Liked the new music I've heard by Raquella, Pure Trend, Caleb B., and Ayna's cd, "Untold Stories".

I like the performances I've seen by Nu Image, Ashley, Latin Nation, Ricky Vaz, Aby, Artie & Legit, and others.

Like I said, it's all a matter of opinion. You may say it's bad, but I may think it's great.

Yo steve instead of being so vague u should say specifically what u don't like. When I post my songs I'd hate for someone to playcate me with a "that sounds great" if they don't really feel that.... I'd want an honest review so maybe I can improve on something. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, I'd never get insulted but some of these artists are very hard working & they might get offended.... U took the time to listen & post so why not be more constructive in your criticisms... that's just my 2 cents..... 🙂

That's true sietz. I took courses at Montclair university for acting, tv/video production, film making, and part of those courses was how to properly critique someone's work.

Something good should always try to be found, to soften the blow. The rest needs to be descriptive......the beat is too slow, the keyboards don't flow, the hook is not memorable, the vocals are off key, the lyrics sound immature.....things like that.

Just a blanket statement of "it's garbage" or "It sucks" doesn't help anyone, and just comes off rude.

Steve :" Mr Miami"

I ve had the pleasure of Doing shows for you in Philly. I agree with part of your statement above I feel some of the artist need to step up our product , Vocals , Production , presentation.

I may not like alot of the new freestyle but not all of it sucks. You have some talented artists out there that do there best to give us music that we love.

true ma,at least they are trying....now about that hair,is it done???

Sietzsounds... I wasn't looking to get into reviewing songs and what not, and shit what do I know? I mean if I ever put out a track again, I'm sure people will shit on it too. But I may entertain you and others with some classic Mr. Miami reviews... that is if ya'll can handle it! lol I am very busy these days, but I will do my best to at least give a paragraph review to each BAD or GOOD song. This should be interesting. I can just hear the death threats coming.

mrmiami,

I here what you are saying, i simply judge it by voice and music. You have to be able to carry a note, and the best I know that can do this is George Lamond and Stevie B. Your music has to flow with the singing. I have not heard very many songs from new school that can do songs gracefully. With that said, I believe that the new school is going through "growing pains" and with time someone will break out and Freestyle will be on the map again. The old school can only do it for so long...someone is going to have to step up so the old school can pass the torch!

Wow bro, so true. It's always important to give the positive with the negative. Just look at the state of Freestyle in 2005! Everyone in the Freestyle industry I'm almost sure isn't in it for the money, but for the love. Let them do their thing and be proud of their achievements. Damn.

You're right its better to be honest, but there's no need to be so harsh.
There is good & bad in everything, & practice makes perfect...maybe in due time some of those artists you feel suck may come up or just give up...either way atleast they're trying....

But Mr. Miami ... aren't you the same one who released the album Fabiano - "Make It Last"? I actually purchase that cd and there is only one song called "What Can I Do" that is the only half decent song on it. The other songs you and Fabiano worked on are too cheesy with the beats and lyrics. I think you could of worked a lot harder on the production. I think if a lot of people heard this album they would agree with me that your skills are nothing compare to the skills of new school producers like Willie Valentin, Artie, Ed Ramos, Nu Image, etc

That's just my two cents
