SoooOOO whats up with Napster? It doesnt look good, does it? Didnt get to read the paper...And you know the sad part I never got to use it yet LOL I never figured out which option to pick when u download it so i gave up and never finished downloading it 🙁 How will this effect freestyle or wont it...? Im upset because I can barely get freestyle where im from and i dont have a credit card....so i can only hear the freestyle i see at the store or what i can listen to online...

in the end, napster was always a kind of free commercial machine for the music industry. it made students in the US buy more CDs, and it made ME buy more CDs. those ppl who have the money to buy CDs will buy CDs anyway, and with napster they'll buy even more. so in a way a) BMG was stupid enough to buy napster coz it'll now be a disaster for them if things wont change and b) the rest of the music industry is also stupid coz they try to ruin napster (well, in a way, BMG wouldve dunn that anyway.)
 
What I have heard is that sometime in the summer napster will start charging a small monthly fee and bmg will be controling napster. The problem could be that not a whole lot of freestyle will be available as there is now. There is another napster like program out there called aimster.com and it's supposed to be better than napster. Its kind of new, i think it was started a few months ago.
 
it made me buy less...

i'm a napster lover but u gotta be kidding me. How can napster make u buy a cd??? sorry but i haven't bought a cd since napster started. most people already have cd-burner's so y buy cds. sorry but i have downloaded over 2000 songs and put most of them on cds. but i've never evn thought about buying a cd cause i like on song out of the whole album. napster never provoked me into buying a cd. so the music industry does have a reason to be doing this. i'm bummed about losing napster but i have napigator and also more free companies are gonna come out that are gonna be 100 time's better and easier than napster. napster has started a revolution in music.

Where I am right now, there is no freestyle what so every......at least you have freestyle at your stores, I don't even have that 🙁. Napster was my only source for freestyle to keep my sanity, but now they're taking that away from me.........

What all these people are saying is pretty much right, but an addition I have to make is that napster might actually be going down earlier than the summer, and once its back up in the summer then its going to be a pay service.
 
There is also a file sharing program called "Gnutella", which allows users not only to share mp3's, but almost any other type of file they want to. I tried it when I first heard about it about 6 months ago, the only problem was that the only Freestyle mp3's I could ever find while using Gnutella were by Stevie B...

It's www.audiogalaxy.com . It's an ftp search site, so if you're gonna use it, you better know how to use ftp. Also, if you wanna share your mp3z, you have to run an ftp server. I did this for a month and got in deep sh*t with my isp, so I had to shut the server down. Audiogalaxy is good if you don't mind the occasional misconfigured ftpz and ratios.
 
Thanx for the info on Napster. It's hard to find certain freestyle artists and every compilation album for some reason. I don't really like having to pay a fee expecially since I don't use Napster that much but I am glad there are other sites I can use. 🙂

I SAY TO SPREAD THE WORD FOR EVERYONE SHARING FREESTYLE TO MOVE ON TO GNUTELLA ONCE NAPSTER IS SHUT DOWN. I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND FREESTYLE IN STORES AND USUALLY IF YOU FIND A SONG YOU WANT, IT'S ON A CD WITH A WHOLE BUNCH OF OTHER SONGS YOU ALREADY HAVE.
REMEMBER GNUTELLA AND KEEP FREESTYLE ALIVE
 
yeah , i gotta admit, i dont have a cd burner,. but nevertheless, to me a CD with booklet & evrithing has an kind of aura that a copy of a CD hasn't got.. maybe i'm old fashioned, maybe this is gonna change, but then record companies will be in trouble with or without napster...
well, napster made ME buy more cd's, and according to some studies, it also makes other (in this case US) students buy more cd's.
 
You guys are killing me with all the other "napster" type of sites ! keep it coming ! LOL ... Also i agree with that one guy, since napster came out, i rarely buy CD's .. Thats a trip ... i always said i love it and hate it, peace, randy
 
Personally, i have not been affected by Napster, as far as the # of Cd's i buy is concerned...I only use napster to listen to songs that i have never heard...and if i like themn, i'll go out and buy them.
 
No, i buy the same # of Cd's that i always have...only that now i'm never disappointed by the Cd's i buy, because i am able to hear the songs before i buy them...something that was hard to do before...
 
i would rather have a professional cd from the label than burning the mp3 on a cdr........if peepz dont buy cds the company will not continue to produce new songs....

I havent posted in a bit...but I have good news I finally used Napster for the first time....I love it :O) I definitely think it would make me buy more cds because I have a cd burner, but i dont know how to use that lol I am listenin to freestyle songs i never heard. I think thats great. I want to stay up ALL night now I got sooOO much catchin up to do. So many songs i want to hear......what songs do you reccommend i download (old or new) that i might not have heard? Somebody told me besides the sites you mentioned (i havent checked them out) that theres somethin called imesh.com??? anyways thanks for all the new sites...Hey persianfrstyler...where are you from? I really dont have that much freestyle around here and the ones that are here, i already have, or theyre like $18.99 and then maybe i have every song but like two on the cd....so i dont buy it you know. But Philly has more than my town....I need to go to NY or PR...My friend went to PR and came back with ALOT of freestyle cds that were mad cheap...I was like for real!! I guess i need to go there. Anyways im workin now just wanted to say hi !! Oh whats everyones napster name....mines ReaLLove4eveR :O) I am kinda old fashioned to I think ill always buy cds.....
 
well, bit in fact it's the artists who produce the music, not the big rich fukin major labels, right?
