Early 90's film "My Own Private Idaho" starring the late River Phoenix(Stand By Me) and Keanu Reeves(The Matrix) is finally released on DvD.It is directed by Gus Van Sant(DrugStore Cowboy/To Die For).This cinematic masterpeice was controversial when it first came out and was a huge risk for the actor's involved, because of it's nature of sexuality and story telling of homesexuality, street life, hustling, etc..and became an avagard type of film making.Gus directed it so brilliantly that you understand and accept what you are seeing and understand unfamiliar territories in life, that usually you might not be familiar with.River rocks in this film and I am was so sadden of his death.A true artist who died so young.The Dvd has many extra features-commentary, deleted scenes,bio's,interviews with Rain Phoenix(River's sis) etc..If you have not seen this film, you should rent or buy it.It's a great art on film.

The 90's was the last great era of good movies. That was a good movie. Companies like Miramax made great movies no body else was doing.
