Im 18.. was born in 1986.. i got introduced to freestyle through my uncle(a VERY important person in my life) and all my older cousins.. they were they troublemaker types.. beside from bass which was big back then, they would listen to freestyle.. at the time, i was maybe 5.. my uncle had a red candy colored regal with white walls and 17" spoke rims with a stereo system that set off alarms.. My cousin had a blue candy colored cutlass with his own nice lookin stuff.. they both belonged or hanged out with a set of Zulu Nation in broward.. and made the girls wild.. i remember hearing all these freestyle songs while chillin with the "cool guys" and wanting to be like them..

Now that im 18 and he's 30 (i think) and he's still a cool cat.. He can hang with my friends and not make a fool of himself.. He's made me into a freestyle fan.. These days, to most kids my age, the music sounds corny cause they're interested in being "hard" and that bull.. But im diffrent.. I have no problem jamming this music at full blast for everyone to hear.. ANd occasionally, i see my friends move a lil to the beat showin hints of likin the music but then show their machismo latino y apagan la musica..

anyways, the other day i bought my uncle a couple of freestyle cd's and tickets to the reuinion concert in coconut grove on august 28.. He sat there and listened to the music and started reminising(sp).. lol.. luckily, his wife wasnt around cause he started remembering old relationships and stuff like that.. for old times sakes he told me to smoke a little of my weed with him(nothing serious, just for memories, understand that he was close to tears cause he never really heard the music since he was maybe 19, so he felt memory lane kind of like an autobahn.. lol).. after the weed session, he told me tales of his teens..

Him goin to galaxy, hot wheels and other places like that.. Six flags, atlantis, oceanwalk and other hot spots of the time.. Him knowin a freestyle artist named "Shannon" (i think, i could be wrong about the name).. That she went to south broward with him and she now sings country music.. He told me of the relationships that freestyle helped him out with..

and he said something that i'll never forget..

since his wife was also a freestyle fan, he called her in to the room and asked her to tell me her stories.. after she told me about her love for freestyle.. he said "N to tell u the truth, if it wasnt for freestyle, i would be either dead or single and reckless. Freestyle helped me find my true love and marry her"

So, i give thanks to freestyle.. and to show it my gratitude, i plan to go to every concert, show, and event i can.. I'm goin to try to buy the most cd's i can as well..

Be easy, and i hope everyone has fun at the concert in august..

Very nice story Playboy! Welcome to CF! 😉

The artist that was freestyle that now does country is Shana. 🙂

^Thanks for clearing me up..

Then, I guess if she was from hollywood florida n went to south broward, then my uncle isnt confused with anyone else n he really does kno her..

Well I give anybody your age much credit that really likes freestyle music. Because my 2 older sons, ages 19 and 20 don't like it. They only like my husbands song, "You'll Never Find Another Love". And that's it. Oh and my 20 yr old likes Noels songs too.

Freestyle has been known to change people and there perspectives and views on life. I personally think that GOD desighned Freestyle and Trance to expose a positive "Street Beat" to the youth. A new Image if you will, to hang up your Nike Cortezez and Creased up Benz for some GQ rockaports and a pair of Polo Jeanes, Hit the club, College, work, life in general and find love. To be positive and still have a dope beat to knock when ceuizen the streets. A music that can turn heads and attract a vibe just the same way Hip Hop can but with out being offensive. To proudly be a "Individual" thats up on todays stylez and fashion without being like the rest of the community. Freestyle never stopped being liked...it stoped being played. In time ....it will be played again......................................Played like todays Hip Hop.

Yo whats up Playboy and welcome to CF, I can straight relate to you on this statement you made bro, and thats how I got introduced to more of the freestyle music myself, back when I was a lil youngster I went to party at hood up on the South Sco on C st. and these type of crazy folks bumping that "Johnny O" material made me have even more love, but on the other hand, I still have some of my boyz telling me it's soft or sissy ass music, because it has them love lyrics ,and what not! To tell you the truth, thats what made me pursuit, starting my own record label, to prove that this type of music is not only for them square type of folks, so continue on playa showing that love for this type of genre.

Peace
