As some of you are aware, my daughter had a hip-hop competition yesterday which started off as a favor for her best friend. Her best friend Ashley begged her to come and dance in her group and my daughter did because those two are like sisters.

Anyway this the reason why I had to leave the Diamante Show early. To get to the competition on time.

Well it was a great show! The 6 groups that won, get to go away for 6 weekends for a dance boot camp reality show. Out of the 6 groups that won, 2 winning teams will receive $65,000 in scholarships to attend a major dance academy, a full group makeover, a photo shoot with Ford Agency, an appearance in a major music video, and a concert. But the group didn't win. I felt so bad when they did such a great "kick a$$" performance. People in the audience that didn't even know them started chanting for them because they felt that they should've won. What an experience. But it's like I tell my daughter, "this is what it's all about". Competition means you have to take the losings too.

But I give them props for doing their thing. :yeey And like I told my daughter, this is not the end but the beginning to many more!

Awwww.....

I'm sorry that the group she was in didn't win, but you are right. She has to learn to lose.

However, she really didn't lose. She and the group gained experience, and they now know that they can go back, change the routine, or make a whole new one, and go and try again. The more they compete, the more expeirence they will gain, and they will work their way up.

And you're so right Chuck. It's funny because there was somebody there from a magazine.......don't remember which magazine he said.....but he spoke to me and wants to do a big article on the group my daughter was in. He felt they won. One of the judges who's a friend of mine wasn't pleased at all with the way they had to judge too. Well anyway, that's a whole new story. Like I was saying, this man wants to do this article on the group now and put it out there, perhaps get them interviewed too. Then I introduced him to my husband, and along the conversation it lead to freestyle music when he found out that he's a freestyle artist. Now he wants to do a big article on Freestyle music and what happened to it. So of course we exchanged telephone numbers and I'll be arranging this date also now for "Freestyle". 🙂

Brining attention to your daughter, and your husband, and freestyle!

Well it turns out this guy is a fan of freestyle and says it should've never died. And he wants to make noise to bring it back.

not all about winning betty.. but those events are fun! hiphop dance is always entertaining to watch, cool to see your daughter is doing that

Hey it's MORE exposure........... 🙂
No, LaBetty - it's &MORE exposure! LOL!!! Looks like the apples have not fallen too far from the talented trees - great for her!!! And judges are human like doctors, critics , juries etc - they don't always make the right decision, but with all the positive feedback from the crowd, magazine writers etc your daughter should be feeling great about her accomplishment!

Well Ant, I talk very straight forward with her and I don't bite my tongue with nothing. This is the real world and I want her to be prepared so that no one out there can hurt her. I let her know that this business is dirty. It's full of "cut throat" people. I let her know that other dancers are going to be grillin' her and trying to work her last nerve and that she has to be able to control her temper. She has to "take it to the floor" when it's time and put all her attitude on the floor with her body language! Haters are everywhere and the only time I tell her to get physical is if a girl comes to her and starts first by hitting her. Then she can rag the b*tch. Because my daughter knows how to box too! :lol So she'll rag a girl like if she was fighting a dude!

I have to Ant. She's my ONLY daughter. You know? And where I live, girls get stupid. They hate a lot. They like to carry blades and cut faces. Phuck that, I want my daughter to be able to defend herself and not fear anyone. So the boxing comes into effect there. Plus she has a 20 and 21 yr old brothers. She tears their butts up just practicing on them. My husband, "&MORE" used to box before he became a freestyle artist, so she learned with him. She mastered it. Knows the terminology and everything. :lol

And in the business it's the same thing. She can stay involved with the entertainment business and I'll support her. But when I can't be with her backstage or something, I just want her to handle her own! And I feel sorry for the girl that starts with her.

That is great Yvette 🙂 I wish her the best and glad that she has supportive parents and brothers!
