Mike Tyson scuffles with cameraman at club Thu Nov 10, 3:03 PM ET
SAO PAULO, Brazil (Reuters) - It doesn't pay to tangle with Mike Tyson, a Brazilian reporter has learned.
The former heavyweight boxing champion lost his patience when a reporter-cameraman tried to film him at a nightclub early on Thursday, Sao Paulo police said.
"He asked him to stop and he didn't stop. He got up, took the camera, destroyed the tape and damaged the equipment," district police chief Roberto Calassa said.
Police detained Tyson for questioning and later released him.
Reporter Carlos Mello said the ex-champ hit him in the head but police said he needed a medical test to prove it.
"We doubt he was hit because everyone knows Mike Tyson's punch and the reporter didn't seem to have a wound," Calassa said.
Tyson, 39, was making news in Brazil on his way home from Argentina, where he was a guest on former soccer star Diego Maradona's talk show.
The previous night, the American boxer brought six women back to his hotel but staff would not allow them to go to his room, Folha de S.Paulo newspaper reported.
