I keep hearing Marc Anthony being mentioned here as a Freestyle artist. Besides songwriting and backup, did he sing on any Freestyle songs? Just wanna know. I need to know. Tell me, baby girl, cuz I need to know...

From what i know, is that Marc Anthony, did a freestyle album with i think, Lil Louis & Marc Anthony back in the early 90's late 80's, something like that .. And from what people told me he did some thing before that !! maybe someone will ellaborate more on this topic

Marc Anthony did a song called "Rebel" which I guess is freestyle. He did alot of backup vocals (Chrissy I-eece, Ann Marie on the top of my head) for freestyle songs. And he wrote a bunch also, the most popular being "Boy I've been told" by Safire. Also Check out "Ride on the rhythmn" by Marc and Little Louie Vega. Its a classic NYC house jam.

Randy, Marc looks a little intoxicated in that picture. What were you feeding him !??! LOL

MARC ANTHONY ALWAYS LOOKS THAT WAY!!!!!!LOL BUT HE IS REALLY COOL PEOPLE. I RAN INTO HIM AT CLUB FLOAT IN MANHATTAN AT THIS LTV (LATIN TELEVISION) PARTY!! HE NEVER NEGLECTED THE FACT THAT HE WAS INVOLVED WITH FREESTYLE AND WHEN FREESTYLE CAME ONE WE BOTH FLIPPED!!LOL IT WAS AN AWSOME EXPERIENCE MEETING HIM!! BUT HE ALWAYS LOOKS INTOXICATED!!LOL

ANTHONY AKA FREESTYLE LOVER

From what I've read

Before the album with LIL Louie, Marc had another album, with freeestyle songs in it. The name of the album was "Jumping Off" by Mark Anthony.

Thants all I know, it was supose to be a indie release.

Marc Anthony's album with Lil Louie Vega was re-released by atlantic records last year (due to the popularity) its called "When the Night is Over" it has Freestyle and House. You may find it easily now. It has guest appearances by India and Tito Puente also

Marco Anthony Muniz

Did Marc Anthony Do Freestyle? Yes He Did. Was He Ever Respected In it? Nope...Thats Why Anytime He Gets Interviewed He Never Mentions It Like " I Did Freestyle Before " Instead U Will hear Him Say " I Did Some Things Like House/Underground " Why Wasn't He Respected? Cuz The Man Was Amazing. He Smokes Cigaretts Like A Chimney And A Minute Later He Will Bust Out With The Sickest Vocals U Will Ever Hear. People/Artists Envied Him For that. He Didn't Have 2 Watch His Vocals And He Could Make U Get Chills When He Sings. Everyone Fails 2 Say The Other Track He Did...Besides The Album " Jumping Off " *good Luck if U Find It Cuz I Dont Even Have It lol " And The Little Louie Vega Cd Called " When The Night Is Over " He Also Was On A record With ELIAN Who Sang " Here's Your Hat " If U Flip The Record Over Is A Song By Marc Anthony Also That Was Produced By Todd Terry...On FREEZE RECORDS...I Think If Im Not Mistaken,The Song Is Called " Loves Change " It Starts Off With A Hard Guitar And U Hear Him Come In Saying " I JUST WANT YOU BY MYSIDE,YOU JUST WANT ME 2 BREAK DOWN AND CRYYYYYYYY " Off The Fu**in Hook Record...If You Have It? Ur The Man...If U Dont? Thats Just 2 bad...ahahahahaha * Waving Record Around Na Na Na Na Naaaaa Naaa *
Those Lines In That Song Are From The TIME Song.
Keep Reprezenting The Forever Lasting Style.
Peace...

Marc was a freestyle artist. I used to hang with marc in the late 80's early 90's. Nyaisa you remember right? He used to be at my ex-mangers home all the time. he helped my group with harmonys and he even taught me about midi and recording. "thanks marc" Well if you guys didnt know he wrote songs for safire. "Boy I've been told" was a hit for safire which he wrote. But originally it was a song he recorded for himself. it was called "Girl I've been told". also "You said you loved me" on safire's album was his song also. I think Nyasia may still have a copy of these demos. I might even have a tape in my mom's house. But he was a freestyle singer. We all didnt understand why he wasnt recognized back in the 80's. He also wrote songs for MENUDO. I used to think that marc was the man and that it was a shame he didnt make it. I am glad to see how far he was gone. I remember him going to the studio and coming back to my ex-managers house with demos. He had a slammin duet with Rianna Paige. I thought that was going to be his hit. He even produced it himself. but it never came out. Marc was and still is the man!!!

My goodness I never even knew Marc was THAT involoved with freestyle in the 80's. We all know the man could blow like hell and he would have been a really huge freestyle star maybe if he was given the chance. I'm glad that he has finally come out of the shadows though. Didja see him sing at the Subway Series. All I can say is wow. 🙂

yea marc does have a dope voice .. i was hoping in his english CD that there would be a track or 2 dat was freestyle .. but ahh well .. mebbe next one hehe 🙂

marc, did some stuff whether it was solo or background back then in for other freestyle artists but the ones youll mostly hear his voice on is "you should know by now"- chrissy-i eece or whatever and "i want you back"- george lamond....(which is not freestyle). then in 91 he released an album with little louie vega entitled "when the night is over" most of the song s on there are dance stuff but the only song that s close enough to freestyle is a song called "time" which to me is the only good song on there besides "name of the game", "when the night is over" and "ride on the rhythm" the rest are junkie.

ABOUT THE ALBUM "JUMPING OFF"

I SAW THE ALBUM "JUMPING OFF" ONE TIME AND IT WAS BY A BLACK GUY CALLED MARK ANTHONY, NOT THE MARC WE ALL KNOW. I HAVE MARC ANTHONY'S ALBUM WHEN THE NIGHT IS OVER WHICH CONTAINS THE AWSOME FREESTYLE TRACK "TIME" AND AN LP THAT CONTAINS ANOTHER FREESTYLE SONG HE DID "REBEL". TO MY KNOWLEDGE THIS IS IT. I ALSO KNOW HE WROTE AND SANG BACKUP VOCALS FOR SONGS BY SAFIRE AND WAS WITH THE LATIN RASCALS. SOMEONE NEEDS TO TALK WITH MARC ANTHONY AND EVEN LA INDIA AND TRY TO PURSUADE THEM TO GO BACK TO THEIR ROOTS AND SING FREESTYLE AGAIN. THAT WILL GIVE FREESTYLE THE BIGGEST BOOST IT CAN EVER RECEIVE.
PEACE OUT!

Hey everyone

As much as the next person, we all wish alot of the Artists that had trend to other styles, will do Atleast one more for the Gen., But as for Marc and India believe me there's no way they can be persuded to re-do Freestyle Music, with all the money they are making especially Marc forget about it. It will be great though, I went to a concert one time in MSG in NYC and India performed I was so happy when before she sang her last Salsa song she did an accapella of "Dancing on the fire" My mouth drop she said before she sang "Hey New York do you guys remenber this song; Dancing on the fire with just one desire, I want your Love" and she went on and sang the whole chorus, I was happy and shock. At the Marc anthony concert this past summer which I also went he said "I will be doing alot of my past salsa hits, some of my new stuff, and stuff I shouldn't be singing". Right there I thought maybe he will do one of the songs from "When the night is over" (Waving the album to Elear), But no he did "Hotel California" by the eagles so there's goes that. So there's my opinion what you guys think?

I wouldnt mind seeing Marc Anthony write a new Freestyle song. It would be interesting to hear what it would sound like.

sup Alex,
I do wish he would surprise us one day and sing a freestyle duet...but i thought that he did a good job singing Hotel California just recently at one of his concerts i've been to...peaceouttie
