i see alot of people, complain alittle about new school freestyle.what are your likes, and dislikes????
Yes this is something I would definitely like to know myself. So many people bad mouth new school in terms of production and claiming the new school generation lacks talent. I like new school more because artists become more involved in their projects. Back in the day, old school artists were nothing but voices while producers, songwriters and managers were doing all the work. Rarely did artists ever write or co-write any of their songs not to mention VERY few even had the skill to produce any form of music (with exception to Stevie B and a rare few). Also in terms of lyrics, new school artists are more passionate about the lyrics they write and actually make the songs feel more and more like a true story that anyone can relate to. Some would say the new school generation is too depressing but I like to think it's more meaningful that way. Granted that new school freestyle lacks a little talent production wise but at least those new school artists are getting their hands REALLY dirty and work more and more on their own material rather than be some old school artist who is nothing more than just a voice (again with the exception of Stevie B and a very few).

Anyway, that's my take on the subject ..

know what? the old school to me is like our parents oldies.they were about love, and breakups.the old school,is our oldies, and the new school will be the younger generations oldies.alot of artists back then, were young and naive, they were told to just sing these words that someone else wrote, while they sung, there management reaped all the benefits.as the old schoolere got older and wiser, they realized what was goin on,and tried to put a holt to it.as years progressed, and artist got hip to the industry, the minds werent as easy to push over,so hence the artistic, new schooleres.i give props to both sides.

I love both old and new school. I have cds from Latin Nation, Ayna, Poze, Freeze, Nick Colon, Willie Valentin, Synthia Figueroa, Ashley, and others. Looking forward to expanding my collection. 🙂

I can see where you can say that, but freestyle is not the only music that this situation occured.

Some of the most known people in the biz experienced this. The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Jackson 5 (Motown years), and many others, didn't write their own lyrics or music. Didn't mean that they were not talented, or didnt' work hard to get the success they did.

the only thing I dislike is when an artist comes out with a hot song and the track doesn't sound original.....(yeah, the planet rock shit)...it's a damn shame!

I "used" to have a complain and that was tracks that were under 4 minutes in length 🙂 But now things seem to be good!

I like how some artists make it more trance like (more bpm) zoe, cj, tamara, ceres are some examples of what I mean...i
