Not really a clash, but,

Have you guys noticed that Latinos, Italians, Greeks, & sometimes African-Americans, have alot in common within their culture.

As a Puerto Rican that grew up between NYC & Boston, & now live in Florida, & having freinds of all backgrounds & nationalities, I must say, Latinos, Hardcore Italians, Greeks, & African-Americans share a lot of similarities.
First off, aside from African-American, the other 3 races usually get confused for one another by looks, on many occasions.

1. We all have spicy attitudes, & are hot blooded or short-tempered.

2. Are very passionate lovers.

3. Our foods are da SH*t!!!!!!

4. We are very close & family oriented. And if you're a friend, ....you're family!

5. We all have eachothers backs, & are over-protective. If you have a problem with one of us, ...you got a problem with ALL OF US! (& we WILL get you!)

6. The women get the most upmost respect, they are the sweetest, BUT they are not ones to be messed with!!! (especially Mothers, Grandmothers, & Aunts!)
What they say goes! When they open them eyes & ask for something, u better do it or it's ur a$$!

7. BOTH the men & women are the best cooks in the world! (more the women of course).

8. The women in our cultures dont like empty stomachs, & love to feed everyone, even if u said "no thanx". They just insist on stuffing you, even if you're full.- lol.

9. We are all very intuned with our musical background, native music, & love to dance. Especially at family gatherings & get-togethers!

10. The men always hold the most strong "Macho" male-roles in our cultures.

11. The men are usually jealous, & very strict & over-protective with their children, but they are also the koolest & funniest guys around. Grandfathers especially are the biggest jokesters, & usually crack everyone up!!

12. We usually look at other races (especially the regular "white" american) as boring, plain, & culture-less. - (No Offense)

13. The family is sometimes very nosy & pushy with one another's life. (usually for the best). But they mean well.

14. We can sometimes tend to be loud when we are with eachother. & the kids can be very mischeivous!

15. The men & women in our cultures are the most beautiful exotic looking creatures in the world!

Do u guys not agree with all this???
If there's anything I left out, please post it up.

yes i do and it all u have to do is study ancient civilizations to understand this might include some middle eastern cultures as well

I'm sorry but I do not agree with this & yes I do take offense. I do not consider myself a regular "white" american. Nor do I consider myself boring, plain & culture less & what gives you the right to say this about people & then have the nerve to say no offense...please:rolleyes

Oh Gosh!
PLEASE dont start this on this thread!

If you do not consider youself a regular plain American, then there was no reason for you to respond that way, cuz it was not about you.

Um last time I checked in America we have this thing called Freedom of Speech & I can say whatever the hell I please. I took offense to that regardless if I consider myself a plain American or not. And as far as what you listed well many of those things remind me of my culture & nationality too.

Everyone that knows me here on CF, knows this was not posted to cause chaos, just to show how similar some of our cultures are.

& Even though not all of us think the same, the majority of the formentioned races DO look upon the "white" American in similar ways. I guess it sounds kinda ignorant, & not all of agree with it, ...but it's the truth.

Look at you shows & movies, The Soprano's, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, My Family/Mi Family, The Perez Family, I Like It Like That, Mi Vida Loca, Kiss Me Guido, & Selena to name a few.

Just trying to share similarities with my CF peeps, thats all.

: P

How do you know if it's the truth? How do you know all Italians, Puetro Ricans, Greeks & African Americans think of as you say "White" Americans as plain, boring blah, blah, blah? It does sound ignorant but everyone is entitled to their own opinion & I am just stating mine.
As far as movies go, well that's what they are movies. They don't always portray real life.
And it's ashame if anyone considers theirselves a "Plain, white American"

i am italian i consider all this true...we are very passionate!!!

i wouldnt say we consider regular white americans plain, boring or cultureless...first off no one is culturless...what i think it boils down to is, we are OVER THE TOP WITH OUR EMOTIONS...as opposed to other cultures they know the virtue of patience, cause u know we will go off on the drop of a dime...as a whole though, cause everyone is diffrent

I agree.

But PhillyGurl is blowin this outta da water!
Relax.

Just as u can say what the hell u please...... so can I.

About the mentioned movies, yeah thats what they are, but they are reality & culture based, that show how some of us are.
Not some fantasy.

I diddnt say EVERYONE of the mentioned nationalities thinks that of white Americans, I just said the majority do.
It's the TRUTH. Im not making it up.
& It's been that way waaaay before I come along.

It doesnt mean that "I" as an individual do.
So dont try & flip it making it look like this was coming from my individual point of view.

Get over it.

ANYWAYZ, ...moving on,
I just thought of one more thing,
we are also very religious. & Our ancestors are very supersticious.

Anything else guys???

well as for the latinos in general maybe some will agree with me when the spaniards back in the days conquered the carribean islands like dominican republic, puerto rico, cuba etc etc....

they all brought with them the black slaves that were caught captive from africa and haiti and within time the spaniards and the blacks mix with the other latino ppl as well and u know how the rest goes right? lol so for some of us that have some kind of background where our ancestors was either part black, part spanish or part white

cuz for the latinos to give ya an example why do u think u see a white guy that looks like a true whiteboy with blond hair and with blue eyes yet he speaks spanish? or the same for a black guy with very dark skin its bcuz that person has some kind of genes that goes way back to some great great grand mother or father and was brought down from generation to generation

so i agree with what some of ya were stating cuz we all have some kind of similaries in some way from some ppl in the past thru color, gender or creed

for me i know that i got some spanish and some black in my background cuz as for family members(like cousins, aunts, uncles or whatever) theres light skin ppl like me and theres some dark skins where in some way has some kind of african heritage in their blood and the culture is always there which i always feel the connection and regardless if i have some white or black in me shouldnt be no different i think it just makes more interesting and im proud of my race cuz wherever i go i always represent mine ya know?

so if ur a white hispanic or a black one it dont matter.....what matter is be latin and be proud!!

Thats right!

My family is mixed too.
Some look white/European, Some very dark, & some very Indian/Carribean toned.
My Grandmother (r.i.p.) on my dads side came to Puerto Rico direct from Spain & has white skin, hazel eyes, & red- dirty blonde hair.
While my maternal Grandmother is the opposite.
She's darker & very Native Indian looking.

But as a Latino, about what I was sayin'
- I know u feel me right??
lol.

last time i checked, italians and greeks were "white". how do you define a plain white american? no one's nationality is "white".

Company B, you jump all over Phillygurl....why? you post something like this and what, expect everyone to agree with you? you want to post things like this, expect some people to challenge you.

**MICHELLE**

Ummmmmm, I think that "list of similarities" was just a list of stereotypes and assumptions..

Being a "hardcore Italian" (wtf is that?), I don't agree at all..

Even though I was born and raised in Europe for a good portion of my younger years, I don't consider myself non-white nor do I consider others who are not Italian "non-white"..

In addition, if I am not mistaken "Kiss Me Guido" was an off-off-broadway show spoofing Gay Single White Female (or in this case male).

How is that Italian? Because the character thought GWM thought it meant "guy with money"? and not Gay white male? :rolleyes

I need a cigarette :crap
